well, mitt is a terrible candidate regardless - he's inherently unlikable. but, yes, the hermetically sealed fox echo chamber is a bad place to be if you need to compete in reality. opinion is one thing, but when you start bending facts to fit your views, you will be in for a nasty surprise when reality intrudes.

Nope, Mitt Romney is a grown-ass man. He can take responsibility for the chances that he's blown, or he can drop his ass out of the race.

The My Little Pony Killer: Mitt Romney is a grown-ass man

Is that a crack about his enlarged prostate?

But seriously, is there anything Fox News can't ruin?

Not until his bosses say he can. They need the ratings so the show must go on.

The most interesting thing about all this is that conservatives will interpret this as not having a candidate who is conservative enough. They'll nominate someone yet further to the right in 2016.

Little early to be calling the election don't you think? It's not even October and the future has a funny way of not turning out like you'd expect.

I'd like to encourage this opinion. If it causes a revolt against Fox, it's better for everyone.

That's why they said McCain lost, and that's what ushered in the Teabaggers in 2010. The next 4 years are going to be comedy gold. Or Scary. At least one of those.

This is bad news HOW??? This is AWESOME NEWS!!!
Except that all the "rational" candidates who stayed out in 2012 will be in the race in 2016.
So unless their is a "leader" among the batshiat crazy candidates, the batshiat will drop out early.

Blame FOX, not Mitt?

I don't see that as an either/or thing, quite frankly.

They both suck.

economic confidence among Republicans is as low as it was back in the nightmare winter of 2008-2009.

Not even lightly tethered to reality by this point.

Blame the party for taking the easy path to short term success by sucking up to the teabagger "movement". Feeding on ignorance and hatred by running incompetent candidates who mindlessly tow party lines and spew ridiculous religious doctrine can win house races, but when there's national scrutiny and the stakes are high, suddenly people start caring that your candidate is damaged goods. The collection of retards and lunatics that made up the republican primary virtually guaranteed that 2008's leftover candidate would be the one to take the fall this time around.

Fox "News" raped and murdered a young girl in 1990. What else are we supposed to believe, seeing as how they refuse to deny these serious allegations?

2012-09-22 04:28:31 PM
Fox news has been parroting the Obama's "failed policies points" every time anything happens in the world. But I think people aren't retarded enough to believe North Korea is acting boldly is a result of their perception that Obama is weak. Or that the embassy attack magically wouldn't have happened if Mittens were president.

The economy is also rebounding, and people can see that in tangible ways. Most prevelantly, in getting back to work. It went up to 12 percent. When 1/3 of those people get back to work, people notice. Even though 8% isnt exactly beautiful, it's better. And if it continues, them we are in good shape.

People can see it getting better. They are way less likely to believe finger pointing or change course right now.

I like to argue as much as the next guy, but it's been four years of this shiat now, I'm not always up for drawn-out fight, so when I want to cut things short I'll usually say "Let me ask you one question: is waterboarding torture?" If the answer is no, if a lot of hemming, hawing, explaining, parsing or hair-splitting results, I interrupt and say "You support torture. You are morally corrupt and your opinion on this or indeed any subject is without value" and walk away. Amazingly effective because, like most repubs willing to support a morally indefensible position for political reasons, they know they are in the wrong and will do almost to avoid admitting it. I don't believe Obama's victory in November is a foregone conclusion by any stretch of the imagination, but if he does win, I am looking forward so much to telling these people "You know what? You lost. The majority of the American people think you're wrong, you are wrong, so why don't you just shut the fark up?"

FTFA: If most of your information comes through Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, you might think that the economy was just fine or maybe a bit on the weak side until January 2009 and that it has gone from bad to worse since then. Certainly, that's what Republican rank-and-file voters seem to think.

That is absolutely terrifying.

The social conservatives only have one thing sustaining them at this point... The white-hot, seething Anyone But Obama syndrome. Romney has been a complete windsock on the wedge issues they hold dear. The fiscal conservatives who put any thought into it know Romney / Ryan are the bastard children of G.W. Bush and Ayn Rand, combining the worst of each, so they aren't exactly inspired. The only thing holding them together is all those "temporarily embarassed millionaires" like Joe the Plumber who think they're going to benefit from Tax Cuts Uber Alles.

You betcha they're going to swing even stupider in 2016.

What I don't get is why so many Democrat voters are getting off on this fantasy of the down-in-the-dumps conservative. Most Republican voters I know right now believe Barack Obama is going to go down hard on Election Day. Is there some hope that by lying about this, they may hope to convince people that it is true and make it a self-fulfilling prophecy or something?

The neat thing is they're already beginning to turn off people by being so wingnutty. There's talk (admittedly how much of this can be proven is beyond me) that the Republican party will cease to be relevant if they don't win this time around.

One can only hope.

Sounds likely, it also means if the Democrats can dig up someone moderate (well centre right), and reasonable at speaking, they should walk 2016 and still have the better odds in 2020 (as the Republicans will either be still collapsing, or still going even further right in 2020).

They have no choice, really. In order to garner enough votes, they have to appeal to the kooks on the ultra-right. What's funny about this is that the folks in the true power base of the Republican Party would never associate with most of the people they have to pander to.
