Ilmarinen: I've been wondering, on the studio recording of Don't Think Twice, It's All Right did he play the guitar part himself?

I don't see why he wouldn't. Anyone who has learned travis picking should be able to play that with some practice, and as a folk musician Bob Dylan I'm sure knows how to travis pick. It's a nice sounding tune, but you don't exactly have to be Leo Kottke to play it.

Incidentally, "Don't Think Twice" is on my song list to learn on guitar, I just haven't gotten to it yet.

Uh. That's not was asked. Some other Farkers might actually know the answer to your question. I don't know the answer right now about the studio recording but I will do my best to get you the answer. My thoughts are that they had Bob Dylan play guitar on "Don't Think Twice" and why not?

Ilmarinen: Satanic_Hamster: good guitarist

I've been wondering, on the studio recording of Don't Think Twice, It's All Right did he play the guitar part himself?

Its not known.  From Wiki (go to the song's page for the links to citations.):

It has been argued that the original album version of the song is played in a fast, fingerstyle manner by Bruce Langhorne.[3] However, Eyolf Østrem, the creator of the website dylanchords, argues it was Bob Dylan himself who played the guitar track.[4] In live performances, Dylan often strummed the chords, or flatpicks, albeit in a similar, fast-paced manner. However, the 'Witmark demos' (The Bootleg Series, Vol. 9: The Witmark Demos: 1962-1964) reveals a demo version, with Bob Dylan fingerpicking, very similar to the later recording. Furthermore, a recording of an April 1963 concert in New York (Bob dylan - Town Hall, NEW YORK CITY, New York 1963 [Bootleg]) also contains a live version of "Don't Think Twice," fingerpicked in a manner similar to that heard on the original recording.

Thanks for your input. It's pretty much all Dylan to me.

No, Bloomfield.

Oh, and Al Kooper too.

Bloomfield + Kooper = SuperJew Duo!

If we're including duo's then Perlman + anyone of a dozen pianists doing violin and piano sonatas.

The problem isn't that there are mentally ill people floating their conspiracy theories around the marketplace...it's that other people who aren't mentally ill keep encouraging them by listening to them, buying the deluded crap they churn out, and even vote for them when they run for office. WTF people?

Bocasio: Lost Classics of Right Wing Folk Music

Such Great hits like Poor Left Winger

"CONELRAD keeps alive the memory of one of the strangest of pop music subgenres-conservatism-themed folk music acts of the 1960s who were promoted in an unsuccessful attempt to counter the Bob Dylans and Peter Paul & Marys of the scene. Perhaps most fascinating is Janet Greene, a former children's television personality in Ohio who was discovered by the right wing organization Christian Anti-Communism Crusade, which had Greene record a series of propagandistic songs and put her in the spotlight as the "anti-Joan Baez". The most entertaining work in her catalogue is "Poor Left Winger", a tale of woe concerning a naive girl seduced by a communist beatnik "bearded singer" mocked for his "espresso", "demonstrations", and dirty shirt:"

This one was always a favorite of mine.

Who the Hell are right wingers think they are kidding when they drop names of bands they "like"? If they were born a few decades earlier, they would be right out there burning Beatles records.

What's next? Rick perry saying that he's a fan of the Green Jello?

Who cares about the political aspirations of his father? I have a father, and we couldn't be more politically different.

This.

Seriously, politics aren't genetic. If Obama was born to a Communist father, but raised by someone who WASN'T commie...what is the farking problem?

/Never mind that the only similarity the alleged "Commie dad" has to Obama is his skin color.
//They all look alike, right Republicans?

MFAWG: Best Dylan quote ever on the subject:

'They're just songs. They mean what you think they mean.'

This is why I long ago gave up trying to "correctly" interpret his lyrics and just go with my gut. Isn't that what good art does? Elicit a response?

Earlier I mentioned Jokerman (one of my all time favorite songs, regardless of genre). I get Leviticus and some other obvious references, but the rest of the song still baffles the sh*t out of me. I understand what he's saying but not why. Now that I no longer think so much about it, I simply enjoy it.

The American commie father will be admitted by Obama if he loses, even if it's not true. Then you'll have the liberal constitutional experts start coming out: "you know, now that we've researched the matter, Obama wouldn't have been constitutionally eligible if his father had been that Kenyan".

There aren't any liberal constitutional experts on the hook because they've all managed to avoid commenting on the matter of natural born citizenship during all the birther stuff.

That funny, given that Indian society is built around racism/bigotry (i.e. the caste system).

Bloomfield was a outstanding blues guitarist. Way ahead of almost everybody at the time. He was just plain weird.
Al Kooper was just a oppurtunist.

Indeed, it seems like he believes in setting up a similar caste system here, with Asians on top. But don't you dare criticize him--because that would make you the racist.
