Love Pumpkin, especially in ales. However, pumpkin is not, nor will it ever be, the new bacon.

Also, relevant.

Pumpkin latte is better than bacon latte. Bacon wrapped scallops are better than pumpkin wrapped scallops.

Why can't we love both?

I've met pumpkin. I like pumpkin. But pumpkin is no bacon, no sir.

Only in the sense that it'll be overhyped in every cooking magazine/blog/tv show.

Although, I do want to make pumpkin risotto.

I love pumpkin, but until it starts growing on pigs and tasting like delicious meat, you can just shove it, lady.

Bacon wrapped pumpkin?

Does pumpkin really have much of a smell? When I think of pumpkin I'm really thinking of nutmeg, or basically pumpkin pie. That's what the candles smell like.

Holy farking shiat. I had not.

google

Oreo has confirmed that the product is indeed real, and will be available exclusively at Target stores starting next week at a suggested retail price of $3.59. We visited a local Target and grabbed up a couple packages at a slightly cheaper price tag of $2.99.

I'm off to Target. wow

A place by me has been making pumpkin seafood chowder for years, and it is awesome. Imagine Boston clam chowder except instead of potatoes/cream, pureed pumpkin. I've also had it in several Asian dishes: when cooked right, it is incredible. It's almost a shame that when Americans think of pumpkin, they immediately think pumpkin pie.

/still... not bacon.

Food Network has a recipe for a pork-and-pumpkin stew. (Well, they call it "chili" but it's so NOT a chili.) Slow-cooked pork shoulder, chipotles, poblanos, onions, garlic, lots of pumpkin. It's amazing, especially if you make the pumpkin cream for the top and sprinkle crispy bits of bacon over the top. The bacon isn't part of the recipe, but it should be. SO GOOD.

Pumpkin will never be bacon, but they sure do play well together.

No no no no. I've had that. Two bottles because I wanted to give it a chance. It's not good. It tastes more like salty maple beer than bacon. You'll have to find a different example.
