violentsalvation: Jon Jones, good person or bad. I don't know. He is amazing. I don't like his Jesus talk after drunk ruining his car, and I think he should've fought Sonnen (but this fight was good too). I think he is a young man at the top of his MMA game but still emotionally growing up. I'd like him to lose a fight or two, to refocus him and forge his resolve. But this is his life and career. We are just spectators. I can't complain, they gave us a show.

Just as point of reference, I know I've mentioned it like eighty-seven times, but in the post-fight interview after the Mark Hamill "loss", Jones claimed that "if this is what God wants, then so be it". Next day, his fight camp was appealing the loss. The Jesus thing, as it's played out so far, is a complete joke on his part. And while he's hardly the only athlete to misappropriate god, it's still annoying.

NorCalLos: The only reason I can think of is that some people are just uncomfortable with others' excellence.

In fairness, mixed martial arts has been promoted in the States much in a manner to football, where any competitor can win on any given night. Most sports fans are more interested in parity and mediocrity than dominant, skilled champions, because it's much more difficult to develop a sophistication and appreciation for the actual competition in the sport, an appreciation and interest in the athletic skills and actions that lead to that "foregone conclusion of a title match". It's much easier to get sucked into media narrative and hype as developed by blowhards and commercial advertising dollars, where "THERE'S NO TELLING WHO COULD LEAVE AS THE CHAMPION!!1"

NorCalLos: violentsalvation: NorCalLos: Bunch of pussies around here can't handle losing arguments.

When an argument around here devolves into comments like this and "kleptoklondike", can you blame them? I'm not even jumping into the argument, or putting anyone on ignore, I like these threads and everyone who comes to participate. I mean, say what you want, I have no say around here, and I know that's tame talk for Fark. But I'd wish we could keep it nice, we have a good, friendly thing going on here.

Point taken, but I get a little defensive when people start throwing around the word "troll" and white knighting each other. It's difficult to not take it personally. I know I've definitely been on the receiving end of much worse things than I've said in these threads, but I also know I'm not "popular"/not a TF'er. I'm kind of a lone wolf as far as that goes, so I apologize if your friends are butthurt, but it's kind of their own doing.

We aren't white knighting each other because we are tfers, we just know each other better because we hang out in mma threads that don't get to go green, we had one last night in TFD for some strange promotion. We've come a long way and finally gotten to the point where the admins realize that there is an audience and we don't have to beg them to green a thread. You aren't a lone wolf, you are part of it, you've been posting in these forever now.

NorCalLos: That's funny. Ya, I was sponsored once too. It was weird. Even being a liter, you can tell there are secret conversations where people will decide to gang up on people. It's super lame/childish. Thanks for the full disclosure. That takes some integrity.

Yeah, the cliques are f*cking awful. They are rampant in weekday TFD. It's like high school to some people.

libranoelrose: Dana calling the fans morons again.

Dana is a farking classless douchebag, but at least he's consistently an asshole who says whatever he has to say at any given moment to protect the legitimacy of the UFC.

None of us did all that fantastic but congrats to Carlos and blasto for coming in first place, good picks.

It's been a while since I've had my predictions turn out that shiatty.

Yeah, I've been in a kinda shiatty slump myself, I guess it just happens sometimes. You usually pick really well.

Klippoklondike: ongbok: Klippoklondike: NorCalLos: Klippoklondike: cookiefleck: So who can beat Jones?

heavyweights. It's the weight class he belongs in anyway, though he'd still beat most of them at least he'd be challenged

Why does he "belong" there? You sound white.

He's huge, that's why. And he has the longest reach in the entire UFC. If Fedor can be legendary at 235 pounds, Jones can successful at that weight as well since that about what he'd weigh if he didn't need a weight cut.

And what the hell does being white have anything to do with anything?

You do realize just because you weight a certain amount doesn't mean that you will be successful at fighting at that weight? Nobody fights in the weight class that they would be in at their walk around weight. It is just stupid to suggest that because somebody walks around at one weight, that they should fight at that weight.

Fedor fought at 235, Cro Cop fought at 235, Cain fights at 240. Jones can put on 5 pounds and fight at 235. He's already got a longer reach than everyone other than 6'11" Stefan Struve. I'm not saying he should've started at heavyweight, but it is time to move there now. Who else would you have him fight? What is left at 205 for him? he's already beaten everyone. If he wants to be the greatest of all time like he says then he has to continue getting challenged and that ain't going to happen at LHW.

Did you say the same about Rampage, Ortiz or Liddel? And why didn't they move up? It is probably because they knew they wouldn't be successful fighting at that weight. Newsflash, fighters know what weight they fight best at and will stick with that weight.

I think people just hate Jones because a) he's good/haters gonna hate; and c) he's "bigger" than everyone else in his weight class. It's just like how people used to hate on Shaq: "I'd be NBA MVP if I was 7'-1" and 300 lbs."

All in all, a good night of fights and pleasantly surprising main event.

mikeray: ongbok: FireZs: Klippoklondike: He's the best fighter and also a worthless piece of shiat of a human being.

For what, being cocky? Drinking and driving? I'm curious what the worst thing he's done is.

Add me to that list. What has he done to make him a worthless piece of shiat?

I don't see how someone can hate Jones, he is a class guy that's just talented as hell. I want someone to beat him but damn I have a hard time hating him.

That's something people will never agree on. I don't find him classy, you do, we'll never agree. I do agree he's a phenomenal fighter.

Just got here, and of course I forgot to do tapology for this one.

The facebook prelims were pretty entertaining tonight.

I'll take Hettes in this one.
