10-9 Benoist. 28-28 Pierson.

Benoist deserves to lose for not finishing him off...

Sean Pierson vs. Lance Benoist round 3

Pierson shows his striking superiority into round three as Benoist looks for kicks that are well countered and followed up to. Except for this most recent kick that buckles the leg of Pierson. It is only one though and Pierson follows up with good strikes of his own as he's done this entire fight. a slight eye poke slows things down for a ocuple of seconds as Pierson gives Benoist time to wipe out the sratch. They go right back to it with Benoist scoring a good elbow in the exchange. Pierson scores a couple of good punches in the follow up and counters with an over hand right off the straight punch. Pierson mixes it up with a takedown attempt but lets it go well before. More striking exchanges with Benoist getting a couple of good ones in on this exchange. He goes back to teh kicks and eats some counters for th eeffort. they continue to excahnge, both fighters looking tired. Benoist finally scores with a good shot that puts Benoist on wobbly legs and Benoist goes for broke. He flurries shots and eventually it goes to the ground with Benoist continuing the Blitzkrieg of shots. Pierson gives the back and Benoist looks for the choke, but Pierson gets it back to the feet. They finish the round witha couple more shots and that's all she wrote. Good on Benoist to go for broke, but unfortunately this one should be Pierson 29/28 for the first two rounds.

Benoit shouldve pressed him at the last 15 seconds, he wouldve gotten the ko. It all depends on who the judges gave round 2 to. I have it 29-28 Pierson, but wouldn't argue if it goes the other way.

That was cool!

libranoelrose: Testiclaw: libranoelrose: WTF was that?

When you have a front headlock you can flip them to their back and with the moment swing your legs over into a mount.

It's weird that most post came so close to the gator roll post, but I guess that's because my feed is at least a minute and a half ahead of psychicdeath's.

I was talking about the leap from Benoist into the Tebow.

I'll see if I can isolate it.

Ahh, the dreaded flying tweak-out strike.

That's what you get for hugging/holding him up for 15-20 seconds, Benoist!

Rewound and slow-moed it. Caught him with a left just as they changed camera angles.

Farkin' Uke: Sorry to hear, but at least you have a pretty entertaining match to share (fark TECHNIQUE! BWAAAAA!)

That was a really fun first fight. My dad is still a believer in "the sweet science". Boxing bores me to no end.

Every single time he has watched a match, it has been a 3 round "lay and pray". FINALLY some excitement!

I think it was a shot before the change of camera angles, but he didn't lose his balance right away.

Wow, Evan Dunham is 30? For some reason i though he was in his early 20's

libranoelrose: That last round shoulda been a 10-8. Draw.

I tend to be a bit more conservative in awarding 10-8 rounds, myself. I try to score like the judges do, and most are stingy with the 10-8.

If the buttkicking had been a larger proportion of the round, or if Pierson hadn't been winning the round up to then, I'd agree.

Great striking by both fighters so far.

Yeah, it probably wasn't a 10-8, I just got over excited I guess. Haven't seen good MMA in what seems like months.

Great first round.

I have no idea who won it.

10-9 Grant with surprisingly good striking

Dunham just hasn't been the same since Guillard broke him and Comedy Central cancelled his show. That was a bad stretch.

Evan Dunham vs. TJ Grant

Tott has Grant with 2.5 inches in reach Ref is Dan Miragliotta.

grant starts the figh tmoving forward, but Dunham is the one backing him up and throwing the punches. He scores about one in every 4 or 5 as they flurry, with th grant scoring some good counter body shots. he also scores a good one to the temple and Dunham is cut. They continue to exchange and Grant is getting the better of the exchanges as Dunham is getting a little wobbly while continuing to be the one moving back. Grant stays calm and scores another good counter as Dunham moves in. They exchange and Grant eats a couple but dishes it right back. Dunham stumbles into a head kick but takes it well and circles away. They reset and go back to the flurries that have been going on through the first half of this round. A quick clinch but nothing as they break right away. Grant tries a head kick then catches a kick before having his own kick caught. THey continue to exchange, each continuing to throw and connect. Dunham grits his teeth after being hit and moves forward with punches before trying a flying knee that misses. Grant continues to be the one moving forward, but he is starting to eat more shots, and it shows as he istigates teh next clinch. He knows what he's doing though' scoring some good elbows beofre switching to a knee to the body and a couple of body punches off the break. Back to distance they continue the flurries, Dunham back to backing up before ducking the next attempt and scoring a double leg to half butterfly guard. He stays in close for a moment before standing, then dives back in trying to connect a couple of shots and pass guard as the round closes.

10/9 Dunham. Very even in the striking, and that takedown should tip it in his favor. Wouldn't be surprised to see Grant with that round though, very close

2012-09-22 09:19:16 PM
Close round. I'll go 10-9 Hunt.

Geez... Grant.

Damn I've missed watching these top tier talent guys.

The difference in skill and aggressiveness is so much more evident when all you get to watch are the crap show.

You can tell they touched heads, because it left a nice blood stamp.

2012-09-22 09:23:46 PM
Dunham needs some swim goggles.

2012-09-22 09:24:21 PM
Incidental takedown. I think he released quick enough.

Yep. These guys would probably kill the lower level guys I have been watching the past few weeks.

Evan Dunham vs. TJ Grant Round 2

They go back to it with Dunham moving back, but he catches the first kick of Grant and puts down a couple of punches. Dunham has the rhythm now and is countering successfully on Grant. he's putting together good counter 1-2 combinations as Grant moves in and follows his next with a good leg ick. Grant misses with a cuple in the next flurry nad has to clinch as Dunham connects inbetween. They break and go back to flurrying shots and Grant gets a good one in that opens up Dunhams forehead. Grant goes for a leg kick and backs up before they reexchange with grant connecting well to the body. The blood is pouring now but ref isn't stopping in as they continue to exchange well. Grant is starting to connect more and Duham shows the takedown to slow his progress. Grant pays him back in kind but eats some punches for the effort. Grant returns with his own and they're back to flurrying shots at one another. Left right straights land for grant and he circles away to the center. Dunham returns with less clean straights of his own but scores with a good hook. Grant moves back in and eats some more punches but Dunham is game as he continues to eat shots. Dunham is shaking out his face, triying to keep the blood out of his eyes. He's starting to eat more and more shots due to not being able to see, but then ducks down for a takedown and gets it into some more shots after they stand back up, getting a knockdown at the close of the round.

that cut could spell trouble, but Dunham looked like he stole the round at the end. Flip a coin though at this point.

2012-09-22 09:25:15 PM
That was a really hard round to score. I say 10-9 Grant again. Dunham's takedown was nice but he wasn't able to do much with it, Grant had a lot of nice shots.

2012-09-22 09:25:31 PM
Great fight. Another 10-9 for Grant. 20-18, but it's close.

2012-09-22 09:26:07 PM
Bloody clump of Vaseline would make a great Fark handle.

Well, you and your pops must be good luck, because this fight's awesome and it also has more blood than Saw 734

I gotta say, Joe Silva is a farking match making genius to have either of these guys look entertaining, let alone both!

Do desperation take downs count for points?

2012-09-22 09:30:27 PM
I'm calling it now: at least one judge will have it 30-27 Dunham.

2012-09-22 09:30:53 PM
10 -9 Dunhamn, giving him the fight 29-28 but damn this was close it could go either way. I expect a split decision.

Farkin' Uke: Saw 734

Evan Dunham vs. TJ Grant Round 3

With the blood cleaned up for now they go back too it and Dunham connects with a lfurry of straight punches as Grant tries to score his own. The cut is already back as they continue firing away. Dunham scores a good hook and a good straight as he eats a body kick. They flurry again with grant scoring one and Dunham scoring one. They lcinch and work for position with Dunham pushing grant against the cage. Grant scores a glancing elbow on the break and they move back to the flurry of punches this fight has being dealing. Dunham scores a ocuple of good counters and eats an inside leg kick. Grant comes back with a knee to the body then eats a couple of punches, leg kicks, and eats a couple more. Dunham won't be denied his share of striking. They flurry again and Dunham hits acouple more punches, even as he's had his kick caught. tEhy reset off that and Grant gets a hook in before dunham returns with acouple of his own and a body kick. Grant eats a good jab and Dunham ducks the follow up but has the takedown stuffed. They reset to the center and Dunham misses with the knee. They exchang a couple more and Grant scores with a good right hand. Grant now changes it up with a takedown attempt but this is also stuffed. They flurry some more and Dunham has another kick caught. Grant tries to kick out the leg but he's too exausted and it shows with his hands on the knees. They go back to all hear punching before Duham tries, and fails, another takedown attempt. grant throwing the slower punches now and is eating more than his giving. One more takedown and Dunham has it this time, winding up in full guard with body shots to follow. He works posture and looks to put some head shots down with Grant shuffling away from him, triying to push off the hips. THis round is over as the scramble and flurry shots at one another on the ground to the end. 10/9 Dunham this one was obvious. with the better striking and the takedown. Probably a differing scorecard for each judge, at worst split for Dunham. I have it 30/27 for him

I went back and listened again.

"A hunk of Vaseline covered in blood."
