This is the part that chaps my ass:

I ran that through the Reality to GOP translator, and got this output:

It's as if the right has gone so far right that they can't go right any farther without turning into a complete cartoon character. They're trapped against a wall of their own making. And their only hope is to stop people from voting.

So I expect everyone here will do their patriotic duty on Wednesday, November 7th, and go REELECT PRESIDENT OBAMA. Put it on your calendars, people.

Farther without? That cartoon was made, produced, played in theaters and released to DVD a long time ago. Trapped against a wall? They went through that at warp speed and are closing in on Voyager. Your last point is spot on though, and even that's no guarantee.

While Ryan's reception was overwhelmingly negative, he had a few bright spots that earned applause, for example when he discussed how his Medicare plan would provide more generous subsidies for lower-income seniors to buy private insurance plans. He also got some cheers - after attacking Obama for most of his speech - for pledging bipartisan compromise if he and Romney are elected.

Obamacare was pushed through with Republican opposition after being gutted for the very same Republicans, and likely these same old people screamed the whole way through it with poorly spelled signs and nonsensical concepts of socialism.

Naturally, they boo Ryan when he speaks of repealing Obamacare.
Then, they cheer the Randroid's Medicare plan and applaud him for decrying Obama's partisanship, trusting the GOP to continue their campaign of bipartisanship and compromise.

"Respect your elders" is an adage to live by, but these people really do push it to the limit.
Sometimes I truly do find comfort in their deaths being near and it makes me feel guilty.

The funny thing is...Paul Ryan's plan (both old and new, IIRC) does NOT affect current seniors or those over 55. It's only gonna screw us young pups.

It's not normal for your constituents to boo you. Talking to the AARP should have been harder for Obama than Ryan, given that the GOP openly courts and needs the scared old people vote. Obama doesn't. He has enough other demographics to pull from that if Grandma Flossie and her canasta club don't want to vote for him, it wouldn't cost him the election.

If that's not a sign the Republican Party is farked, I don't know what is.

Because the budget is out of control, we need people* to make sacrifices, but we can't ask our seniors who are already on the program or near retirement to change what they have already come to expect from the government.

*Does not apply if you are rich. You will get a healthy tax cut.

I used to think the GOP had 2012 in the bag because of Citizen's United. But man, you guys chose horrible candidates. No amount of SuperPAC money and voter disenfranchisement is going to make up for this.

Actually that's not true. Romney/Ryan's planned changes for mediCARE probably won't affect current seniors but their planned cuts for mediCAID (which pays for nursing home care for a lot of low income seniors) would suffer big cuts affecting many current seniors.

Farkiness aside, this could be the most important thing to enter the news cycle since 47, if the seniors take their lead from AARP

What I don't understand, honestly, is why the polls have this election as close as it is. After Bush nearly destroyed this country and the economy, after Bush and the neocons lied to get us into a totally unnecessary war and after the tea party lead republican party did everything it could to throw the entire country under the bus just to fark with the Obama presidency there are still retards that would vote for the guy who got rich shiat canning businesses and selling the carcass to the Chinese. It's a combination of two things, really:

The "liberal" media, who want a neck-and-neck horse race even more than I want to have a three-way with a pair of hot Japanese chicks. The "closer" the race, the higher their ratings; the bigger the gap, the less people will watch the TV news and buy newspapers telling them how big or small the gap is.

And the people who have decided on 4 NOV 2008 at about 9:30 pm EST* that they absolutely would not vote for Obama in 2012 under any circumstances whatsoever. The GOP and the Romney/Ryan campaign are actively courting them in a desperate attempt to motivate them to go to the polls and cast their vote for Not Obama. Their attempts to do so are alienating all other demographics, but I do not know if this is a side-effect or if it's by design; in either case it has the side-effect of motivating those other demographics to go to the polls and vote for Obama, if for no other reason than to keep the bloodthirsty Dominionists as far away from the Big Red Button as possible.

/*it was around this time that Ohio was called for Obama; though he had not "officially" reached 270 EVs by that point, his total was high enough that California, Oregon, Washington and Hawai'i were all that he needed to win
//and Obama's polling in those four states was sufficiently high that America didn't need to wait for Oregon's post offices and the others' polling stations to close to figure out that he would win those four states

So you mean when he dropped the single payer option that the Rs didn't want and said that they would agree to it if it was removed and then still voted no on it?

I really wish people would hold politicians accountable for their BS. I mean really.

For someone who calls himself a good Christian, Ryan does a lot of false witnessing. There are times when I wish their belief in a vengeful god would be true so that he would smite them for all the shiat they spew.

It really isn't that close. Nate Silver's computer says that if the election were held today that the president would have a 95.4% chance of winning. The media just wants everyone to believe that it's close so they will have a "narrative".

FTFA: "The first step to a stronger Medicare is to repeal 'Obamacare,'" Ryan said, prompting a chorus of boos. After the outcry, he said: "I had a feeling there would be mixed reaction, so let me get into it."

They played that clip on the Rachel Maddow Show. It didn't sound like a mixed reaction.
