(Talking Points Memo)   Alabama GOP chair takes birtherdom to a new level, claiming that Obama was really the bastard son of a Communist. And since we all know that Communism is passed down through the male, that makes Obama a "Stalinist-Marxist"   (tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com) divider line 142

that's why this theory divides the birther community. both factions agree that he is in fact black, but they differ as to what makes him more objectionable - being a foreigner or being a communist.

That depends. Do you have a magic time machine that can go back to the 1800s when it was the party of Lincoln?

"If you haven't seen it, you should," Armistead said, according to the newspaper. "But I'm going to tell you about another movie. The name of it is 'Dreams From My Real Father.' That is absolutely frightening. I've seen it. I verified that it is factual, all of it."

Sounds legit.

I'd love to get a time machine, find Lincoln, bring him to the present and show him just monumentally important the Emancipation Proclamation really was. You know, drive him to the White House, usher him into the Oval Office and say, "See that nice looking gentleman behind the desk? Because of you, that man is President of the United States. Thank you."

Then I'd take him down to the Capitol and have him personally kick in the yambags of every single "Republican" in Congress. Just on sheer principle.

/Facepalm

Can we start acting like adults now and stop this childish petty attacks that have absolutely no basis in any reality (including the WWE Universe of all places)?

If we took all the effort placed into folk creating conspiracy theory and put it into something more productive, our world would be a better place.

So do troofers, Moon Hoaxers, anything involving "the Jews", and the Vince Foster people. Conspiracy theorists are mentally ill. They are frequently very smart but clearly suffering from a level of narcissism that is detrimental to their proper functioning in society. Birthers are the next chapter of what's been going on since the 1920's, but with the addition of the internet and the ability to find like-minded people more easily, they will continue to grow.

It's always about the theorist being able to figure out something the remaining 99.999% of the population is just too stupid to figure out. It's narcissism, plain and simple. They reject anything that counters their arguments, and they berate anyone who calls them out on it. They are interested in learning, but only if it fits their conclusion.

2012-09-21 11:03:31 PM
Non-story. The head of a state's GOP in no way speaks for anyone in the Republican party and it's not the job of the party or the candidate or party leaders to correct his beliefs; it's Obama's responsiblity.

I'll get you one better than that.

I'll take Obama's Magical Time Machine, go back and get Ben Franklin, Teddy Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Lincoln and, yes, Nixon and bring them forward to beat the living crap out of their political descendants.

THIS!

People who believe conspiracy theories believe themselves to be special. When you argue against those theories, you are telling them that they aren't special. They don't hear the logic, they just hear you telling them that they aren't special, and they can't hear that. So they hold onto their delusions, convinced that they are better than everyone else.

The word comes from on high to smear the President with anything you can think of. All the better to plant the seed of illegitimacy. The presidency is lost to the GOP, they are now working on preserving a blocking effort in Congress.

I had seriously believed that the GOP bigwigs would know better than to keep the birther issue in the news cycle into the FREAKING MONTH BEFORE ELECTIONS. Surely appeasing a few thousand die-hard nut jobs wouldn't be worth alienating the non-Dale Gribbles of America.

I was, naturally, proven wrong.

The sad part is that if Obama gave the birthers EVERYTHING they asked for, they would still find a conspiracy in it somewhere. Why can't they admit that they don't like him and that his colors scare him. I honestly believe that all birthers are closet racists. I understand that people can be misinformed, but I feel that because of a deep rooted nugget of fear or hate, it enables them to believe crazy, made up crap. I wish these people would just die already.

I'll take this insanity over the black helicopter bullshiat. We all know that Republicans have the mental capacity of 5 year old children, so expecting them to handle not getting their way all the time with adult manners is not reasonable. They HAVE to make up absurd excuses, so they may as well come up with non-violent ones

2012-09-21 11:36:01 PM
The most ridiculous thing about all this is that you KNOW all black people look the same to these guys.
