Don't bumblebees only live like a month anyway?

2012-09-21 01:36:20 PM
Probably a hoax. He probably put in the freezer for a short time to make it appear dead/injured, then when it warmed up it was back to normal.

I'm going to give away the ending:

Four minutes of groggy bee and you don't get to see him fly away in the end.

Won't his mommy be so proud of him.

If it was truly a swarm you had nothing to worry about. A swarm is looking for a new home and, having no honey stores or brood to protect, is unlikely to sting.

Poor bumblebee. He's not a hero he's like.. Some sadist. Let the bees die naturally it is almost fall.

2012-09-21 03:52:51 PM
I used to do that using sugar water all the time when i was a kid. Bees usually flew too far and ran out of energy. They would drink a bit and they were good to go in about a minute.

The down side was they would make it back to the hive and then a whole bunch of tired out bees would be back. It was like a bee bar. Couldn't get rid of them. I even tried last call to no avail.

/kidding about the second part

The bee probably died a few hours later.

But I get it. I compulsively rescue earth worms from dying on hot sidewalks. I can't ignore it, it makes me sad for some reason.

CSB: every morning there's a big fuzzy bumblebee who comes to visit my lavendar and calendula plants. He's quite dumb and uncoordinated, more so than most fuzzy bumblebees, and at least twice a week will zing right into my head and knock himself silly. After a few minutes of laying on the pavement he gets back up and goes right back over to the plants.

Because of his numbskullery I have named him "Buzzy Fumblebee".

That said, I still run and scream like a little girl whenever a smaller honey bee flies within five feet of me. And wasps, forget it. You'd think a camel spider was crawling up my leg.

2012-09-21 03:59:40 PM
So.... where did he get the honey from? Some other bees had to starve...

same with bird feed..
1. cut down some forests or wild fields where birds can live and get food.
2. Plant food crops that is ment for birds
3. Keep birds from eating crops..
4. Harvest bird food crop
5. Sell bird food to some bleeding heart middle aged or older housewife so she can feel like she is doing some some good by feeding the birds.
6. Oh as a bonus lots of bird congregate and poop around bird feeders (instead of being spread out like in nature) and give each other diseases like west nile.
7. ???
8. Profit

O dear Lord, bees!

The bumblebee was probably trying to commit suicide. I know I would if I had to hang around LaBeef all the time.

Must have been one of them there Africanized honey bees, they are always looking for a handout.

As a bored kid, I did that once, but with a wasp.

I came out of my room one summer and found a half dead wasp lying on the floor. Being bored, I put a tiny grain of crystallized honey in front of its head.

Its little tongue thingy slowly started lapping, weakly at first but eventually more enthusiastically. Eventually it looked less wobbly, and after some wing twitching, it suddently took off.

And flew into the bathroom. Oh damn.

But he turned out to be a pretty good guy. He'd hang around a planter in the bathroom all the time, and every now and then I'd give him a bit more honey which he'd enthusiastically chow down on. Basically, I had a pet wasp.

I named him Stanislaw for no obvious reason. It did feel a bit weird showering with a live wasp in the planter near the window, but I got used to it.

One fateful day, my mother was cleaning up in the bathroom and I heard a loud "OW!". I knew then, that was the end of Stanislaw the Wasp.

Rock on Stanislaw, wherever you are.

What if he just saved the life of bee Hitler, leader of that Nazbee party? Those colonies of bees that were dying could all have been Beebrew, all persecuted by this evil bee. Meanwhile, some jerk with a camera just saved the life of the dying bee Hitler, which could result in the deaths of millions of more Jewbees.

Thanks, asshole.

Many moons ago me & office co-workers used to surf a (now dead) online confessional site called grouphug.us. Lots of stuff was fake or stupid, but there was a gem in there that I remember to this day:

"I'm 19 now. When I was young, maybe around 18, i used to put on a ski mask, gloves, a long-sleeved t-shirt, jeans, socks, underwear, and boots, and go out into my backyard to kill bees. I would go over to my mom's lavender bushes and clap my hands on the bees for about an hour every day.

God I hate bees. "

/still makes me laugh

They can survive the act, but not necessarily the consequences.
