Well, for argument's sake, he didn't say that *FAU* could beat them.

If there is a team out there that can really be a threat passing on the outside, Alabama's secondary is susceptible to that. They've got to be talented and deep enough to other areas to compete with Alabama, and FAU certainly doesn't fit that mold, but if such a team has a really good outside passing game, they could probably knock off Alabama. The problem is, no one on their schedule had that. At least, not right now.

I think the Bills could definitely take them.

Of course they can be beat. It's not as if Alabama has gone undefeated every year under Saban.

...just not by you, FAU guy.

Tennessee has such a game, on paper. Of course, in reality you have to add in the weak offensive line, complete lack of a running game, receivers who have come down with a case of the dropsies, and a quarterback who has the arm but folds under pressure and can't play from behind.

It depends. Is it an SEC officiating crew?

I'm not really upset about this, or even laughing. It's not any different from what Nick Saban says every week in press conferences. After watching ULM take down Arkansas and send Auburn to overtime, I would've thought that we would be less cavalier about so-called cupcake games against FBS teams. The only thing Cory Henry is objectively wrong about here is the idea that FAU's players are faster than Bama's players. But what do we want the guy to say? "Yeah, we're just gonna show up and get waxed 66-zip, hopefully we can be home in time to watch our athletic director cash the check while our injuries heal."

Realistically I expect Bama to win in a landslide, but only because I'm confident in Saban's ability to ensure his team doesn't show up stoned and unmotivated like the 2007 Michigan team supposedly did against Appalachian State.

/Stoned and motivated would be just fine

I was thinking of Tennessee, but even as a Vols fan, I have to say that that offense needs to consolidate it's defecation if it has any hopes of upsetting Alabama.

*shrugs* With all that being said, that game still makes me nervous. Alabama's biggest weakness is a team that can throw the ball. Which is why LSU doesn't worry me as much - they throw the ball worse than we do and rely too much on their running game.

LSU's new QB is a substantial improvement over Jordan Jefferson. We'll have to see where they are come November. If they played this weekend, I'd be picking Bama.

They can be beat, we just then pretend the game never occurred so there is a rematch.

yeah as someone who attended the Florida game, let me say that I'm definitely not buying tickets to see the Vols play the 3rd Saturday in November. Probably go to Mizzou and Kentucky though

As opposed to literally every other major sport where rematches never happen in the playoffs, right? Man, it'd be tragic if the Ravens and Steelers had to play each other 3 times a year.

If there's anyone out there with brass balls, it's clearly Alabama, scheduling such world renowned powerhouses as Florida Atlantic.

Show me the D-1 team that doesn't have at least two or three gimmies on the schedule.

Pssh... Alabama has already had 3 gimmies in the first 3 weeks. FAU would make their 4th of the season, and we're only 4 weeks in!

There's probably 35 teams that can beat Alabama.
32 are in the NFL
and the rest Alabama won't play in their 'body of work.'

At the start of the season, Alabama's first three games consisted of the #8 team on a neutral field and the #5 team on the road. Nice to know that's considered gimmie scheduling. Just a tip - easy wins against respected opponents doesn't mean the schedule is easy, it means your team is very, very good.

Not being critical at all, just curious who you think they are. Right now, I see LSU and Oregon as real threats and Alabama plays LSU. I am reserving judgement on FSU until they play Clemson today.
