The bigger news is that a 5 yr old kid was put on an anti-psychotic.

Fact: children are incapable of developing real psychological disorders and just need discipline.

Doesn't Johnson and Johnson know that people with breasts are typically MORE psychotic?

>The trial in question is over a lawsuit filed by the family of a 17-year-old boy, who was prescribed Risperdal when he was only five years old. He began growing breasts when he was 12.

Wow, I wonder how many he ended up growing.

The side effects of this drug are very, very devastating (beyond man-boobs).

Last I checked, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder were not mental disorders that could be cured through a time-out or a whack of the belt. And there are cases where both diseases have manifested at an early age.

I wouldn't give the parents a beating. I'd give them a vasectomy and a tubal ligation.

What if the doctor never told them about the side effects, or the side effects were unpublished/unknown 12 years ago? There are plenty of kids out there with genuine psychological disorders that need medication. Here's one example (it's a video).

I know someone who takes Risperdal. The side effects are pretty weird, and scary, especially when taken for a long time, or high doses. But at the same time it can really make a difference between not being able to get out of bed and having a semi-normal day.

First any kid who gets risperidone has some issues. It's frequently used for fetal alcohol syndrome, autistic spectrum disorders and various other developmental disorders many of which have co-morbid endocrine abnormalities. That said this is a known side effect of the drug (it actually made my wife start lactating). It's not that hard to fix either. J&J should probably pay for the surgery to remove the breast tissue, but anything beyond that is BS.

you are right on the money. and this is why i often advocate in many threads the importance of not letting every tom dick or harry have children. my parents were batshiat insane. they never should have reproduced. i'm currently on 5 different anti-psychotics. Risperdal is one of them. yes, i do have massive biatch tits, but i'm also overweight. i didn't have children. it has to end somewhere.

Whatever the reason why she needs to take Risperdal is, I don't envy you. You're a good man for staying with her.
