That voice, those quivering jowls, the stink of cheap malt liquor palpable even through the TV, it's almost.... hypnotizing.....

Jowls?

Are you the kind of person who calls Michelle Obama Moo-chelle?

Malt liquor? Pardon me, but who do you think had the time to make that White House beer?

Clinton beat the NFL ratings, which I find even more impressive.

Man, I could hear Biden's stories about the summer of '87 all day.

2012-09-21 10:02:26 AM
I still think Kerry was the most impressive, simply because of how unexpectedly good it was.

Biden's too busy to do any brewing, it takes some serious work to give an '81 Trans Am that kind of shine.

Makes sense.  Republicans would tune into Biden expecting some kind of gaffe they could jump on.  They'd avoid the rest because reality hurts their heads.

Fox News is the tin foild republicans wear to keep reality out of their brainwaves.

Biden sounded like he was ready to kick someone's ass. like he's going to run out during one of the debates and clobber Romney with a Eastwood's chair.

2012-09-21 11:22:09 AM
I was even expecting some crazy talk from Biden. The VP always gets to say the mean shiat, and Biden likes to spout off.

2012-09-21 12:01:32 PM
After Biden's speech to the veterans/survivors group, I'm not missing anything he does if I can help it.
That was the best and most sincere speech I have ever seen.

2012-09-21 12:14:39 PM
I saw Warren, Clinton, and Obama. Not much more.

Seconded.

In other news, Biden bought a 36.75 lb pumpkin in NH today and "carried on his shoulder" into his SUV. Per pool report.

Probably because a lot of people didn't hear about Clinton's epic crushinating until it was over, and figured Biden had the best chance of a repeat.

Biden crushed that speech. He's going to be formidable in 2016.

I missed Kerry but he is impressive in uniform and his salute is outstanding.
Biden and Clinton were very good but I was most impressed with Biden.

Well, first he'll cut a hole in the top, fill it with Coors and jam a tap in the side to make Uncle Joe's Pumpkin biatch's Brew. Then he'll sit on the White House roof all night, kill the whole pumpkeg and chuck it off the side.

people watched Biden for the same reason people watch NASCAR. They hope there's an accident.

2012-09-21 02:17:11 PM
I am in the minority; but I did not think that was Biden's best speech. He gives two really great styles of speeches. The soft spoken one where he is telling personal stories, like his speech on Memorial Day to families of deceased vets this year. His other speech is that raucous, almost black preacher style speech, like his address to the NAACP this year.

Both are great speeches. His Memorial Day speech was incredibly moving when he was talking about his deceased wife and child. To me, he seemed to mix the styles for the convention speech. I didn't think they worked well together.

2012-09-21 02:22:09 PM
That is because we all know at some point he is going to open his mouth and stick his foot in.

I love Joe Biden. He says dumb shiat sometimes, but it's endearing. It's not the "I don't care about those people" kind of dumb shiat, but more like, "This is a big farking deal" kind of thing. Much like Obama, it's impossible to truly hate him. He hasn't done anything worth anyone's enmity or scorn.

In-farking-deed. Even for politicians, they seem like good people. And Biden just makes me smile.

Just curious. What times of day did these people speak? I'm wondering if Joe just happened to be on when people had finished their workday and were settling in for their evening's TV watching.

(Heard Michelle's and Bill's speeches on NPR, otherwise, was not interested.)

I wonder how many people would have tuned in to see Angela Wright speak.

If I remember Kerry was on at that time*, then Biden was closer to prime time.

*I remember because I didn't even know Kerry was speaking, but had nothing else to watch, so just flipped over because I was going to watch Obama later anyway.

Yep. He's a good guy. He's the only one I can think of who hasn't used his Senate position to create a personal fortune. And he seems decent at his core, if a little rough around the edges. And he has to be the least butt-hurt of about any politician out there. Mitt could learn a little something about personal humanity from Biden.

I liked it when Clint Eastwood sat on Obama's face. That was some raunchy shiat.
