(Boston Herald)   Mass. GOP congressional candidate agrees: no debate questions on the illegal gambling ring run by the family of my opponent John Tierney. No way would I bring up John Tierney's family gambling ring at the debate. Not gonna mention the Tierney crooks   (bostonherald.com) divider line 17
More: Ironic, illegal gambling, ground rules, Richard Tisei, u.s. rep.

If it's like the Mass. Senate debate, the first question will be about character. You know that shiat is going to come up regardless.

I don't know that he was involved with this thing, but I'm guessing the answer is yes.

It's Massachussets. Of course he was involved. He'll win reelection, hands down.

This is the second congressional election in a row where Tierney's opponent is a complete nutbar Teabagger. Last time around it was the guy (Bill Hudak) with massive signs in front of his house showing Obama dressed as bin Laden, and he wound up losing by 30 points, and Tierney's gambling connections were well known then. Tisei will go down in flames too. There may be a highly vocal Tea Party presence here in Mass, but they're in a tiny minority.

Bevilacqua added the chamber will have "no control" over which two questions submitted by the public will be blindly pulled out of a box toward the end.

Ok then public, let's stuff the ballots with questions about the illegal gambling ring.

Hmm, just looked at the district map (just moved here last year so this will be our first time voting for congress). I guess I won't be voting in this one, even though 2 of the adjacent towns to mine are in Tierney's district. How do they decide this shiat?

His Opponent: I thank my opponent for that consideration and will extend the same courtesy to him. "No questions about sex with horses while making under age boys videotape the acts. It is just not right for a political debate about the issues."

You mean Tisei? I really wouldn't call him that. He's pro-gay marriage and pro-choice.

A crooked politician? Say it isn't so.

/ This is my shocked expression.........o_o

It's Massachusetts. Better a crooked Democrat than an honest Republican. There's a reason our speakers get hauled out by the FBI instead of voted out.

Tierney may very well be guilty, but he'll still get re-elected.

Yes, let's not talk about the fact that Tierney's wife and entire family went to jail and his brother-in-law is on tape saying he knew about it all along and let his wife go to jail rather than risk his political career. How dare a Republican bring that up.

I guess subby thinks bringing up wrongdoing by your opponent is somehow morally corrupt?

yeah his brother and law the convicted felon who tried to implicate tierney repeatedly and couldn't? i'm sure the brother in law who believed tierney would use his political clout to save him if he ever got caught and bitterly turned against him when it became clear he had no intention to do that is a trusthworthy fellow who wouldn't lie about that sort of thing

There is no plausible explanation for how he was acquitted of this. His wife was running an illegal gambling operation (in their house) making millions of dollars. I was in Boston last week and they were reporting he is now claiming he thought it was legal.

So his brother-in-law has a known criminal records, for among many things, illegal gambling. He's living in the Caribbean and operating a on-line gambling company which of course is totally legit because he's now on the straight and narrow. Your wife is doing the books for your brother-in-law the crook and you don't think that poses any issues. You are either A: an idiot or B: complicit.

why would you think its illegal? there's nothing inherintly illegal about running an online gambling company outside of the US. unless he had access to their books (which would itself be illegal) then i don't see why he'd have any concrete ground to assume they were illegal. his brother in law was a skeeve, and his wife was probably a fool for supporting him, but nothing suggests he was in any way involved or culpable.

Why didn't John Tierney do a deal to sign over his gambling operations over to Elizabeth Warren? Native Americans like her can legally operate casinos now. Not very smart of him.

Tisei is about as far from a tea bagger as can be, though I'm sure he courts them. He's a close relative of mine. He was one of Reagan's interns while in college and was preparing for a political career even as a kid. His bedroom as a kid used to be filled with US history books and statues of presidents. He grew up into a decent guy, Old style Mass GOPer. He works at his job, always has.
