As a Kansas City native: this list is terrible

2012-09-21 07:50:27 AM

Lucky LaRue: I mean, look at her! Just the fact that I said "her" and not "him" should be enough to disqualify her as an expert on real barbecue!

And she gets all gooey over beer can chicken when discussing BBQ. FAIL

2012-09-21 08:07:09 AM
Fox Bros BBQ in Decatur, GA should be on that list as well.

2012-09-21 08:19:30 AM

Lucky LaRue: Right, subby. Let's take the word of a soulless ginger chef in Boston as the final authority on barbecue.

I'd slather her in a mustard-based sauce and serve her with white bread & coleslaw.

The comments from TFA says enough.

I don't know if I can put much weight in the opinion of anybody who's participated in a game show of chosen field, beit singing, dancing, or cooking.

/exception, of course, to Louisville's own Edward Lee, former Top Chef contestant and the man behind an AWESOME local restaurant (610 Magnolia)

The best BBQ is from North Carolina.

No, I don't care if your opinion is contrary to mine. You are wrong.

You.. are... wrong.

2012-09-21 09:14:40 AM
I haven't had BBQ much but when I have it's always doused in so much sauce that I can't taste anything else. Is it supposed to be this way?

BBQ food porn thread

Barfmaker: I haven't had BBQ much but when I have it's always doused in so much sauce that I can't taste anything else. Is it supposed to be this way?

Hell no. That means they're covering up their mistakes(too burnt, not juicy, not from Texas, etc)

2012-09-21 10:44:11 AM

Cythraul: You.. are... wrong.

Nope, I'm not wrong. The best barbecue is from EASTERN NC. You missed a word.

2012-09-21 11:07:02 AM
I once had a very nice woman explain to me that where she ws from in Michigan, they would simmer raw baby back ribs in Kraft Honey BBQ sauce. I could only stare incredulously.

2012-09-21 11:48:49 AM
Central BBQ in Memphis.

2012-09-21 11:49:26 AM
No Memphis? FAIL!

2012-09-21 11:50:04 AM
My ex-girlfriend tried to make ribs in the crock pot. I'm not sure if I broke up with her more because of that or the cheating.

2012-09-21 11:50:23 AM
Opinions on taste, by definition, can only be right or wrong inside the head of the opinion holder.

2012-09-21 11:50:40 AM
Everyone knows the only real BBQ is from Delaware.

2012-09-21 11:50:41 AM
If it has sauce on it, that means it wasn't cooked right. Good BBQ doesn't need sauce

2012-09-21 11:51:05 AM
Well that was stupid.

palladiate has a point there. Anyway, I can leave now, glad you folks have it covered.

Awful lot of "y'alls" in those comments.

2012-09-21 11:52:10 AM
Or whining in the article, subby

2012-09-21 11:52:18 AM
List is decent, 'cept it forgets Jasper's in East Waco. Damn. Just...damn.

2012-09-21 11:52:25 AM

Lost Thought 00: If it has sauce on it, that means it wasn't cooked right. Good BBQ doesn't need sauce

While I agree with you to a point, a good sauce can enhance perfectly cooked meat. Sauce cannot cover up mistakes in cooking or a crappy cut of meat.

2012-09-21 11:52:29 AM
Center Point BBQ in Hendersonville, TN has a giant wall covered in photos of the big time and small time stars that have eaten there. I go there regularly, and their BBQ is insane.

2012-09-21 11:52:44 AM
That vinegar-soaked crime scene you Southerners want to call BBQ isn't BBQ, it's a lie made flesh. Hang your heads in shame.

2012-09-21 11:52:55 AM
Memphis.

That is all.

2012-09-21 11:53:22 AM
Not one place in Memphis???? List is epic fail.

2012-09-21 11:53:40 AM

abhorrent1: No Memphis? FAIL!

Which restaurant? If you say Rendezvous I'm going to smack you through the internet. That place sucks.

2012-09-21 11:53:49 AM
hmm.. this is the second 'best bbq' article in a week.

this one's even less reliable.

2012-09-21 11:54:24 AM
Hill Country?

From New York City?

They get shipments of meat from Kreuz's, stupid list-maker.

2012-09-21 11:54:25 AM
The place in which I am from and have lived most of my life has a far superior style of seasoning and cooking meat slowly than all other places. Everyone who lives there says so.

2012-09-21 11:54:57 AM
No matter how much Texans want beef to be BBQ, it never will be.

2012-09-21 11:54:57 AM

TheDumbBlonde: I once had a very nice woman explain to me that where she ws from in Michigan, they would simmer raw baby back ribs in Kraft Honey BBQ sauce. I could only stare incredulously.

Sadly, that's true. There are a few places you can go for good BBQ in Michigan though. Zingerman's Roadhouse in Ann Arbor is the best in my opinion.

2012-09-21 11:55:00 AM
I'm from texas and I think this list is crap----texas for the beef, KC & memphis for the ribs, and south east coast/carolina style for the pulled pork. And as a bonus Pac Nw for the smoked fish. Each reagion has a specialty but it doesn't mean you can't find a place in each region that BBQ's everything pretty damn good. Hell, I know some pit masters who could put a rubber boot on a low, slow, smokey indirect fire and make you write home to momma about how damn good it was.

List fail. Here be honest BBQ: The Mean Pig BBQ
You really can't go wrong when a place has a US patent on their beans. Need to go back...

Does anyone else like to eat their fill their bathtub with pulled pork bbq and eat it while sitting naked in aforementioned tub?

/slathered

#1 People will never agree on BBQ
#2 If you need sauce then you suck at BBQ

2012-09-21 11:55:57 AM

mr_bunny: Fox Bros BBQ in Decatur, GA should be on that list as well.

I've been there many times, fantastic BBQ! I live in Canton. They completely failed to mention KC, failed to mention North Carolina, which has some of the most amazing BBQ ever eaten by anyone anywhere. For flying spagetti monster's sake those libtards over at CNN can't get anything right can they?

Enraged Muslims have nothing on enraged BBQ fans.

I've never even had real barbecue outside of Western Kentucky.

Protip: Sloppy Joe is not the same as barbecue, and neither is that mustard-laced abomination.
