We already have that technology. It's called a conference call.

I have the impression that the winners over the years have morphed from obscure and bizarre to interesting and geeky. Each one of those could have its own post on Boing Boing.

The demo didn't work during the show (I think the guy was terrified to get that close to a Nobel prize winner), but I did see it work during the rehearsals the night before.

Also: BBC link is better.

This has existed since the beginning of retards calling into radio shows without turning down the volume on their own.

I deal with this on a regular basis. i go to a remote that's outside or main transmitter range and I have to broadcast through a Smarti. There's about a half second delay on that thing. If you're trying to listen to yourself talk, you're gonna fark it all up.

Just have to keep your head down and concentrate on what you're saying.

I like spaghetti westerns. I like the way the boots are all reverbed out walking across the hardwood floor.

Yup, I remember trying out a device like this when I was a kid in school. There is nothing new here from what I can see.

That'll really mess you up too. I used to do radio and plugged the headphones into the wrong jack (used for delay) and started speaking on the air, few seconds later I heard voice and it just threw me, I couldn't speak. Not exactly professional I guess, but it will mess you up big time.

2012-09-21 02:09:57 PM
Anybody who has had voice com problems in CS 1.6 and had to turn on voice loop back to test it already knew about this phenomenon.

2012-09-21 02:21:54 PM
The engineers at my old radio station in the 70s did this to the on air jocks on a regular basis. The only solution was to take off the headphones.
