True, but far better than I could work out with my (decade old) education in Latin. Although I believe subby left out the "so vote Republican" part.

I can agree with that.

Miami is getting less and less Cuban and the new Latinos coming in are coming from places not Cuba and voting Democrat.

From TFA: "At the beginning of your government, you had control of both chambers of Congress, and yet you did not introduce immigration reform."

No. No. This is utter, complete horseshiat, and it's high time people stopped using it as a reason to beat up on the democrats. Due to republican shenanigans and the death of Ted Kennedy, the dems had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate for less than six months of the two years they supposedly "controlled" it. Even if you control the throttle, getting significant legislation written, through committee, and passed by both houses in six months is tough.

Keep in mind that the GOP was also standing up and screaming about how they wanted to work with the Democrats and how it was unnecessary to railroad any legislation through and that they could all work together....

...and then 2010 came and they took control upon the anger that nothing was being done.

English language colloquialisms do not translate well into Spanish and vice versa. Point of the headline is, Obama got grilled by Univision, and he wasn't at his best in his responses.

It's refreshing to see news people actually grill a sitting president, even if it has to be Univision. I mean how many times do we give people a free pass on stuff? I can definitely understand that Obama had more pressing matters and he admitted as much, but go Univision. No one should get a pass on what they promised people when they courted their vote.

I know for a fact that Romney and Obama will be given pre-vetted softball questions in the upcoming debates.

So that's why Romney can't win the Latino vote, the can't put his party on the spanish language ballot! This must be a lieberal conspiracy that the lamestream media is covering up because 0bummer wants them to let him win.

Now THAT would be one hell of an interview to watch

I would like to have heard Obama say "Republican lead state legislatures are cracking down and making it difficult for anyone, citizen or alien, to get anything done because of all the rules they are trying to drown your people with are drowning everyone in the same flood of unneeded regulation. A rising tide does not lift all boats if some are chained to low moorings."

Is it me, or is there a weird slant to the NPR headline: "Despite Obama's High Latino Support, Univision Puts Him On Hot Seat"

It almost sounds like they are criticizing Univision for grilling the President because Latinos generally support him, which is a weird thing to criticize. I mean, it isn't as if people should hold their elected officials accountable.

And let's face it, with the economy in th shiatter, immigration reform wasn't a priority. That's what he should have said.

It looks like it was Google-translated to begin with. I'm not sure how you'd say "grilled" in the intended sense, but "obtiene a la parilla" isn't it (it means "gets to the grill", sort of, but it isn't really grammatical). "Sonidos" is a noun where a verb "suena" is clearly intended.

2012-09-21 10:32:18 AM
Anyone else disturbed by the NPR headline:

Despite Obama's High Latino Support, Univision Puts Him On Hot Seat

So Univision is supposed to be cheerleading for Obama because it's viewers generally support him?

Dear Leader failed to deliver the immigration reform goodies promised 4 years ago. And the latino population is none too happy about it. This is obviously Mitt Romneys fault.
