Especially considering the piddly amount, and the likely cash bonus that would soon follow.

That is some dumb thinking there. So you would take the wrap for somebody on a drug charge? Ok lets look at this. Say they decide to charge you with a felony, like they did here, even if you don't get jail time you still have a felony that in many states can't be expunged from your record. Now you figure the music thing isn't working for you and decide to go to college. I hope you got money in the bank because you no longer qualify for federal financial aid since you now have a felony drug conviction. And you can almost forget about getting any decent paying jobs in this day and age with a felony drug record unless you know the owner of the company. And all of this just because you wanted to insure that the show goes on for a person who probably doesn't even know your name.

Well, she fessed up to it and didn't let one of her underlings take the fall, that takes character. Either that or a desperation for publicity. But I'm hoping for the former. I have a pretty low opinion of humanity and its nice to be proven wrong every once in a great while.

When TommyymmoT said "crew," he was referring to the ragtag group of folks who travel around on busses with everyone from Radiohead (probably not a bad deal and largely legit) to, say, Everclear (the opposite of what was in the last set of brackets).

Basically, "crew" refers from everyone from a sound guy with a Master's to some guy who knows a guy who won't let the promoter in Memphis fark you on the Tuesday night guarantee while you're in between states who also has weed hook-ups in 9 states.

No "Help Wanted" section has a "Roadies" section, and if it did, it would read "Roadies/Carnies."

Someone should/would/could have, depending on your prejudices, taken the fall for this.

And probably have gotten a nice bonus.

Found out a while back that my roommates thought it would be super awesome happy fun time to bake up some pot brownies in the house. I was not thrilled when I looked up the Texas laws for something like this. Short version: If it's used/consumed in a common area of the house (kitchen, bathroom, living room), all residents are considered co-possessors and get charged equally.

Said roommates are on final notice. I'm not risking my career just so some potheads can get their fix.

That being said, I think the pot laws are retarded. I've never heard of anyone smoking a joint and shooting up a school while raping puppies. Nancy Reagan lied to me. The potheads I have been around fall into these categories:

A) Annoyingly "insightful"
B) Lazy
C) Productive
D) Relaxed

Legalize/tax it.

2012-09-21 08:35:26 AM
The latest polls say right at 50% of Americans want the war on pot to end, between 1/4 and 1/3 of all states now have medical marijuana, Colorado is about to vote the Treat Marijuana Like Alcohol Act about to pass and there are actual, real terribly bad drugs that need to be dealt with and law enforcement is still doing this crap?

Add to that the announcement yesterday that some compounds in marijuana can stop aggressive cancer and there is no longer any justification at all to have this drug listed as Schedule I.

Don't we, as a nation, have better reasons to fill our many prisons than this?

Here in MA its been decriminalized to possess up to an ounce. The common sense of the voters is about to prevaile again as the vote to legalize it medicinally is on the ballot. But the Federal Government keeps making things tough on the states that are lax on enforcing fed drug laws with marijuana. Calfornia is caught up in a tug of war right now. Feds closing and busting legal dispenseries. Tabacco and booze are so much worse, yet legal and easily accessable. Just...no...common....sense here. We could even alieviate the national debt a bit if the feds allowed it to be mass packaged and taxed. So stupid....

even tho pot creates hash they are treated differently in the eyes of the law. As stupid as that sounds its a fact.

The bigger story here is that there is an "immigration checkpoint" like 50 + miles from any border. This is the same checkpoint that popped that Army guy and Willie Nelson not that long ago.

Not sure why this stuff wasn't just swallowed. they would have probably had ample time to get rid of an 1/8

Butthurt? I'm not the one who posted her bail. Personally, I can't care less what happens to her, as long as she keeps making good music.

But I CAN care about resources going to victimless crimes. Most of you law and order types are also constantly on a b*tch tantrum about spending. Do you really think it's wise to devote so much manpower and other monies to some chick getting her smoke on? This is why conservatives are no such thing - they want to spend the same money, but on different things.

I grew up in an authoritarian military household. I understand that rules are rules. What's in question here is the sanity of those rules, not that she broke them.

It's very unlikely she owns it.
Most tour buses are leased, and the driver works for the bus company, so it would be like confiscating a cab, or a city bus after finding drugs on one of the passengers.

Legalize/tax it.

Stop being a little biatch and let your roommates do what they want in the home that they live in.

Terrified Asexual Forcemeat: Police booked the entire 0.008 lbs of marijuana into evidence.

With a street value of a quarter million dollars.

Mike Chewbacca: bdub77: If my math is right, that's what, about 1/6 of an oz? Less than a quarter of marijuana?

Your tax dollars at work, people. Demand better.

Your math is off, by a lot. In fact, I'm not even sure how you got there.

1 pound = 16 ounces, so 1/10 of a pound = 16/10, or 1.6 ounces.

/math is hard!

You're joking, right? It's 0.01 pound = 1/100th of a pound, or .16 ounces. Which is approximately 1/6 of an ounce.

My math is actually pretty impeccable. :)

Well, considering the lease is in my name, I am the one who is consistently paying the majority of the bills (80-85% on average) and I'm the only one in the house with a clean criminal record, they can either follow the rules and continue to benefit from my kind-heartedness or they are more than welcome to pursue life on their own.

If being able to pass a criminal background check and obtain meaningful employment in this day and age makes me a "whiny biatch," then I guess I can live with that.

Considering your Fark handle, however, I award you a 7/10.

/Nothin' but love for ya...
//Ooo, maybe they can come live with you!

That's why she cancelled the farking concert? Wow.

Mike Chewbacca: Of course, she had 1/100 of a pound, not 1/10. Sigh.

there is a saying among mathematicians, never perform math in public. Your post and correction are proof as to why.

I get annoyed when everyone asks me to calculate the tip at dinners (or any math problem).

Get it correct, well you were supposed to being a math guy (= no gain in respect)

Get it wrong, what the hell is wrong with you, your a math person but apparently a stupid one (=loss of respect)

there is nothing to be gained by solving other peoples math problems.

That's why I said it makes sense to pay somebody to take the fall.

She's easily getting $40k per show.
It makes economic sense to ask one of the tshirt vendors to do an overnight in jail, and pay him $10k.

Not to mention how much the promoter lost.
