Read the trilogy. Surprisingly tame for a GdT story. A few cool ideas for sure, but too few and far between for a trilogy of books (or a few seasons of TV). I'd think it's definitely TV friendly though, since the story is simplistic and there really isn't anything excessive contained within. And TV viewers usually approve of the deus ex machina extracted wholly from the author's rectum more than film audiences do. I mean, if you're gonna go to that well, you may as well go big, like they did in Night Eternal.

I just dread the idea of yet another insufferable child character to base ridiculous plot contrivances around.

I'd think that the makeup artists and effects crew for Blade 2 should be the first call for this (especially since GdT directed that one too). The Reaper is almost the exact mental image I had of these guys.
