(Forbes)   Forbes lists the top 20 hipster neighborhoods in America. There's a better hipster neighborhood than #1, but you've probably never heard of it   (forbes.com) divider line 20

Meh. Real hipsters don't go to those places anymore. They are too popular.

List is worthless without Plateau Mont-Royal. You wouldn't know where it is.

If you consider yourself a hipster you probably aren't that cool.

Alphakronik: The place subby is talking about is the Hawthorne District in Portland, Oregon.

The Pearl isn't hipster, its the richy rich place that you can't find parking in.

This. I clicked the link expecting Hawthorne/Belmont, and was rather surprised to see the Pearl District. Sure, AI types go there, but it's one of the least hipster areas of Portland, as it caters more to yuppies and rich retirees (and those close to retiring).

East Austin?

That makes sense, it's generally pretty sh*tty.

I lived in Wicker Park. It's fun, but not the hipster enclave it is known as/used to be. They all moved to Logan Square or Pilsen.

Newsflash: Internet lists are often written by people who haven't actually been to the places on the list.

Skid Roe v. Wade Boggs: Kind of surprised Logan Square isn't listed.

No kidding. Hipsterism has moved on from Wicker Park (I lived in Ukrainian Village for 10 years within spitting distance of Wicker Park) and it has followed me up here to Logan Square (or me it, who knows). I don't mind it too much though. Unlike much of Fark, I'm okay with hipsters, they've never broken my car windows, flashed guns at me and/or threatened me with violence or broken into my apartment and stolen my television, computer and other random crap, unlike other people who've I've dealt with over the years who have lived in the various neighborhoods I've called home much of my life. So yeah, hipsters? I'm okay with them.

List fails horrifically without the Rockhill-Volkler neighborhood around UMKC and the KCAI.

NE Minneapolis is a real neighborhood. North Loop was created from whole cloth by real estate developers. It's the urban version of Celebration, Florida. Clean, sanitary, safe, boring, expensive.

WI241TH: Subby's probably referring to Midtown Detroit. Only the stupidest and bravest hipsters venture there.

I knew before I clicked the link that no neighborhood in Detroit would be included, because moving to Detroit actually takes balls, not just a trust fund.
