That's an interesting data point you have there, seeing as according to electoral-vote.com, an average of five polls as of September 17th gives Warren a 48-45 lead over Brown.

Among likely voters, Brown is leading the Harvard Law professor by a 49-45 percent margin, just within the poll's 5.5 percent margin of error.

I'm curious about Massachusetts, now. I expected derpy to win here in Arizona, but not in Massachusetts. What's going on, there?

Derpy is the sitting incumbent, and probably further left on a lot of issues than a blue-dog Dem.

This thread proves my belief about fark politics. 90% of this site simply wants the GOP to totally disappear. Brown is by far and away the most liberal Republican senator. If you feel the GOP has shifted too far to the right, or that checks and balances are necessary to a thriving democracy, wouldn't you want to support him over someone who is essentially going to vote in lockstep with Obama and Harry Reid nearly every time?

Nadie_AZ: I'm curious about Massachusetts, now. I expected derpy to win here in Arizona, but not in Massachusetts. What's going on, there?

It's liberal derpy instead of conservative derpy. The problem is, half the state is steadily going moderately conservative because they're tired of politics as usual, which means democrats in this state and has since Kennedy. The rest are dramatically over-reacting to the derp put out by the small but overly vocal tea party minority and trying to go left of where they are usually.

Either way, as someone who's tired of seeing the jackasses in the two crime-ridden cities on either side of me living off of government handouts, I say that I'm voting for whoever will do the most to fiscally biatch-slap said people.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Scottie 2 Hotty has voted in lockstep with Mitch McConnell nearly every time on substantive (as opposed to purely procedural) matters.

Do I want a rational, actually conservative party to take it's place? Hell yes

This, basically. "Gee, I'd like to vote for the guy that claims to be the most liberal person in the party that wants to ban porn, contraception, and sex education, push Christianity as the country's official religion, deny basic scientific research regarding evolution and climate change, and push forward a rich Mormon vulture capitalist as the country's best shot for President!"

No. The second Scott Brown decides he's not a Republican, well, we can talk. Until then, he's at best a collaborator with the "Party of No", at worst an opportunist riding the coattails of the folks looking to ride the wave of the 19th century.

I'd vote for Warren in a heartbeat over that sleazy chucklehead.

And in rereading my original statement I seem to have forgotten the key words "Whatever liberal contingent is left in the republican party" I think it's implied but it was a linguistic mess.

My problems with the current three main groups now:

Republicans: Herp Derp.

Democrats: I think being mildly personally conservatively religious (the kind where I personally have conservative beliefs that I don't go out and impose on you) makes me believe being in the democratic party would be like being a log cabin republican.

Libertarians: 20 seconds of utopia followed by Mad Max.

If you don't like the main stream parties there are other options you and your friends can vote for. Find one you like:

Constitution Party
Libertarian Party
Green Party
Modern Whig Party

Other parties

I've never felt that at all; they're more religious libertarians - as long as you don't expect preferential treatment for your religion, you'll fit in fine there.

Sure, there are a few militant atheists, but it's not a large set of the party.

I have to admit brown is alright, but I'd rather have a dem than a republican, since republicans really DO vote lockstep with leadership. Tryinn to get Democrats to vote lockstep is difficult. It's like herding cats.
