I personally think this one was more unfortunate:

The artwork on the Durst one was quite impressive. The Beiber one looked like it had been done by a political cartoonist.

Was that Vincent Price?

Not a fan of tats in general, but that Dylan one is pretty damn amazing. Now...that doesn't mean you should put it on your body you git...But it looks like some quality work to me.

I have no idea who most of those were supposed to be, but they were all terrible decisions.

I like the first one. Nothing says "Straight Edge" like Counting Crows!

Not biting on the slideshow, but my typical answer to why I don't have any tattos is if I had gotten one when I was 18, I'd have Bachman-Turner Overdrive on my shoulder now.

Agreed.

I'll try to find that artist if I ever go for my planned 'Silver Platters last supper'.

What I love about tattoo is that no matter how obscure or ridiculous an idea for a tat is, someone probably already has one of it.

Some band tats I found:

Faith no More

Sublime

And my name is...........

Yes. In fact, if I ever decide to get a band tattoo on my forehead, that will be it.

Bieber has one of himself, done by a t-shirt artist? Wow. That's low. That makes Steve-O's back tattoo seem, well, professionally done.

I can't think of a weirder thing that getting a tattoo of a band. Other than Pink Floyd, and maybe Dio; I don't think there's any band worthy of that.

Now, tattoos of esoteric symbols? I'm down with that. Personally, I'd like to make a combination of an Ouroboros, and in the inside, like if it was a cog wheel with smaller cogs connected into each other, like a cog machine.

Not sure what happened here. I got to the Durst pic for about 1 seconds before something Bluescreened my computer. Running Win7 and Chrome. This can't just be a coincidence, can it?

My brother and I were talking about this the other day. If mom had let us get tattoos when we wanted them, we'd both have full sleeves of every alt-metal band that existed from '96-'01. Not a great selection.

I've seen a lot of SD "skelly" tribute tattoos (in fact, I got one myself in 1993). It just sorta went with being a big fan of the band (which embraced tattoo culture as part of its schtick, I guess). I've never seen anyone with a Mike Ness portrait, though.

I should have phrased differently: I've never seen anyone in person with a Ness portrait. That's some nice work, though.

Unless you're in the military, Hell's Angels, etc., the same can pretty much be said of all tattoos.

Good lord, man. Why no tibal tats? Drunk chicks with herpes love tribal tats.
And how come no barbed wire tats? Dunk chicks with STDs love those.

The Crazytown one wasn't that bad. It's more heinous on an album cover than skin but I guess you'd have to include the music with the album cover. Give it ten more years and no one will no what it's referencing any way.

Queensryche is one of favorite bands but I would never consider tatting an album cover on my body. back in the '80s I did consider having someone airbrush one of their tri-ryche symbols on the hood of my car but never got around to it.

I'd say the "crazy bald brittney" one was the worst. Seriously makes no sense whatsoever. If your a fan why would you memorialize her darkest moment like that and if you hate her why would you want her image on your body?

If your politics are right wing then no regrets on the HW Jr or Ted Nugent one.

The Poppa Roach one was clearly done to memorialize the real autographs above the logo (not a choice I'd have made but if your into tats anyway they werent a terrible band)

Most of the rest are horrible musical taste wise, artistically, or both

Two (or maybe three) guys I went to high school with all had "Shine On" tattooed to commemorate all the time spent driving around getting high and listening to Wish You Were Here.

I know someone with "Get Rhythm" tattooed backwards in old english across his chest "so I can see it the right way in the mirror". FAIL

My favorite is a tattoo of Milo from the I Don't want to grow up album, it is bootsy and home done but it is almost better that way for what it is.

I know a girl with the Sublime sun. She's says it isn't the Sublime sun, but gawddammit it is!

I also knew a girl with a Screaming Weasels tattoo. Now, I liked them too, but even when I was 17 or 18 I knew that was a bad idea.

I think you could have gotten that as a denim jacket back patch back in the day.
