Checking her resume, and IMDb page, the term 'actress' is being broadly applied.

2012-09-20 11:17:06 AM
Bullshiat. WTF did she think the scene was about when she was pretending to get oral sex from a dude pretending to be Mohammed?

I couldn't sit through the whole "movie" - because it was just so incredibly amateurishly lame - but from what I did see I call BS on most of these actors claiming they had no idea it would be meant to be offensive to Muslims. They acted out the farking scenes!!! I think what they would really say if they were honest is that they didn't realize they'd stir up this kind of backlash, not that they didn't know it would be insulting.

Even with the cunnilingus scene, the trailer still isn't worth watching. I want those 15 minutes of my life back. The thing that pisses me off the most about Muslim Rage is that it led me to slog through the whole thing of poorly dubbed hicks flopping around in front of a green screen.

Maybe we can all pitch in for a Netflix account so they'll have better stuff to rage over. I can't help but suppose that we could harness the power of Muslim Rage to bring Firefly back or something.

Deucednuisance: Umm, what did you think was going on in the scene when you were shooting it, hon?

Something else. Their lines were dubbed over, so that the movie suddenly was about something else than what they shot.

2012-09-20 11:20:20 AM
I don't think The Prophet ever even met anybody named "Garcia".

Deucednuisance: Umm, what did you think was going on in the scene when you were shooting it, hon?

According to another actress in the film, the film as written and shot had nothing to do with Islam. It was after the fact that the dialogue was re-dubbed and the film completely transformed.

Now, that could be the backpedalling of someone whose life is now in danger, but I wouldn't put it past this guy. He probably knew he could get more people to sign on if they didn't know what the hell they were making.

Deucednuisance: Umm, what did you think was going on in the scene when you were shooting it, hon?

The actors in this movie have a legitimate gripe. I don't know about winning a lawsuit over it but they were mislead about what the movie was going to be about. The guy that made the film dubbed voices over the original actors to completely change the plot of the film.

There's much more detail here at Neil Gaiman's blog as he knows one of the other actresses. She contacted him because she's concerned for her safety due to the movie just like the actress in the OP.

I stand by the right of free speech for the movie itself but the guy that made it is a sleazeball. I think the actors could possibly have a case.

2012-09-20 11:20:50 AM
M. Cris Armenta, the lawyer representing the actress in the matter, said she would ask the judge assigned to the case on Thursday to issue an order compelling YouTube to remove the video immediately. "This is not a 1st Amendment issue," Armenta said. "This is an invasion of privacy issue I don't like the consequences of my free expression in this intentionally inflammatory film."

Death threats are absolute horseshiat in response to this but let's not pretend it's because you were hoodwinked, my dear.

Grapple: "I had no idea" really, what... were you in another room when they filmed it??

I haven't seen the film - have either of you? Is the scene she's referring to shown with a wide shot of Muhammad going down on her, or is it close ups of her face, then close ups of him between someone's legs, etc.? It's possible to edit multiple camera angles to show something that never happened in reality.

There's also the other potential that she thought she was doing a sex scene with a "Desert Warrior" in a historical fiction movie about ancient Egypt, while she wouldn't have done a sex scene with a religious icon.

Yeah, good luck with that.

She's better off going through the talkshow circuit.

According to some of the actor and crew stories, the script was different and the guy wasn't named Mohammed, but "Master George".

Yes, you did. One or two complete farking morons may have been clueless at the outset, but you can't keep the entire crew in the dark -- especially if you're too inept to make up a convincing pseudonym to avoid discovery of your identity.

She wasn't pretending to get oral sex from a dude pretending to be Mohammed. Neither this actress nor the actor knew that a 13-minute clip of the zero-budget movie they had acted in about an evil Egyptian warlord named "George" (seriously) who finds a meteorite would be dubbed over with references to Mohammed by the producer and his friends.

While not illegal, it was despicable that the assholes behind this stunt put these people's lives in danger while they never showed their faces.

As backwards as I feel the response has been in Islamic societies... I'm more pissed that there seems to be a subset of people in this country who really want to provoke a clash of civilizations and drag us into a war or some form of military action.

Not all of the dialogue was dubbed over though, and even if the script was "different" it was still actors blatantly aping racist caricatures in some cases. As I mentioned, I just couldn't sit through to the end, but I saw enough to know that at least some of those actors have to be full of shiat if they are claiming not to know it was going to be intentionally inflammatory.

Does anyone else think the timing of this is fishy? Wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't employed by some far right group as a backdoor swift boat campaign to make foreign policy blow up in Obama's face right before the election.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out as more information becomes available.

Riiight, because a bronze age "film" about a "Master George", done with Flip Camera and a Green Screen wouldn't raise ANY suspicions.

They should be sued for claiming that they are actors in the first place. After watching the trailer, I wanted to kill them.

I'm a fairly experienced person in the Art of Love, and I've done plenty of acting and tech work, too.

I am somewhat at a loss as to how dialog could transform the visual representation of cunnilingus into not-cunnilingus and vice versa.

Still not gonna watch it.

de_Selby: Are you really so out of touch? This has been front-page news now for a week.

Oh, I knew about it and that dialog had been dubbed. See above. Well, if the complaint is "yeah, it's cunnilingus in both instances but I was shouting 'Oh, Irving!' not 'Oh, Mohammed", then maybe I can see the point. No-one's been particularly clear about that.

Not exactly correct, and they were married, however reading a translation of the Sahih al-Bukhari, I am struck by the fact that Arabs of that era had to be the most OCD people on Earth. They didn't just idolize Mohammed, they seemed to want to catalog his every body function.

And the best part is, you back it up with absolutely nothing. You care less about the truth of the matter and more about the opportunity to judge people.
