Women remember birds?

This sexist article must have been written by someone who's never seen a tree that wasn't planted by a city council. Women rarely know anything about the birds until they reach at least mid-motherhood and have been teaching their kid how to bird watch and learning about it by proxy.

FTA: "Men are better at identifying pictures of vehicles they've studied while woman are better at recognizing birds and other objects of the natural world, the results of a visual recognition experiment suggest. ... Then after giving half of the participants a face recognition test, the researchers also found that men who were especially good at recognizing vehicles tended to be better at recognizing faces, while women who were better at identifying living things tended to be better at recognizing faces."

How on earth did the researchers tie all that together to even come up with the study?

miss diminutive: Simple. Birds dress us and help with chores.

My bluebird put my tiara on all crooked this morning, so I had to shoot it as a warning to the others.

Based on the women I know that would be better as "cars" and "plants".

My husband seems to be able to identify almost any bird he comes across, whereas I can basically sort them by color and penguin/not penguin. We're probably mostly even on the car thing. Neither of us is very good with faces.

The study seems.... messy. Kind of a weird setup.

I never grew up with/around/fascinated by cars and I am shiat at facial recognition. I grew up with Penthouse and Playboy. What does that help me recognize?

I'm more interested in why birds suddenly appear.

I recognise races from a wide variety of science fiction and fantasy books and movies. What does that mean?
