The man who sent mental illness treatment back decades being shot by a mentally ill man is just a beautiful event.

What an interesting parallel universe a fatal version of the events must have created.

Lone Stranger, I know this is FARK, but using a picture of her getting raped from the Accused is sort of missing the point of the movie.

I wonder what it's like to know that someone (crazy) tried to shoot the President for you?

Obviously not your fault, but still - somehow - you're kinda responsible. But not really.

/but, still...

His intended target was personally responsible for countless thousands of deaths, rapes, kidnappings and a host of other atrocities committed by death squads and guerillas runded by the Reagan administration. He provided weapons and funding to terrorist organizations (which if he did today would be punishable by up to life in prison under the Patriot Act) and propped up despotic dictators any time it suited him.

I have a hard time calling Hinckley "dangerous" by comparison, especially 30 years after the fact.

The Hinckley family were huge supporters and friends of George Bush, Sr.

The family's excellent political connections are the likely reason John Hinckley, Jr. has been treated so gently by the system.

/yes I am saying there's a two-tiered legal system

Yup. It's a real shame how we can't just whitewash the fact that he was responsible for War Crimes and just jump on the "Bestest Prez'dint Evurr!" bandwagon with all the Republitards and build shrines to him in our woodsheds.

Fun fact: in the 1980s, If you were 10 years old in a Guatemalan or Nicaraguan village, the Happy Fun Shiny Freedom Fighters would show up with their U.S.A.-supplied weapons, kill your parents, rape your sisters, and drag you off to join their "army" on threat of burning them to death. If you were really lucky, you might get to live int he big city, where mobs of child-soldiers pumped full of drugs and brainwashing would roam at will looking for "enemies" of their repsective warlords. I can tell you from first-hand experience that Managua in 1989 was a particularly great spot for holidaymakers. The pre-teens wandering the streets with AK-47s were a real "don't miss" on the tour list.

Thank heavens Reagan "didn't recall" the details 88 times during his testimony, otherwise someone might get the wrong ideas about the POTUS with the Mostest and start sullying His Holy Name.

From Wikipedia:

"Poetic justice is a literary device in which virtue is ultimately rewarded or vice punished, often in modern literature by an ironic twist of fate intimately related to the character's own conduct."

While I do think the world would have benefited from his death, I don't condone assassinations of elected officials outside of war.

I would consider his getting Alzheimer's and not being able to remember his wonderful life rather poetic justice

The pinball scene from The Accused: boner-killer.

The rumor that Foster and Kelly McGillis (who has since come out of the closet) got it on while they were shooting the movie: boner-reviver.
