The snails, which the Nigerian claimed would be used for food

WTF. I bet they are tiny drug camels, each of those shells is probably packed with cocaine.

Greetings, I am the top chef of Nigeria.

Due to political strife in my own nation, I want to know if I can store these giant snails in your kitchen for the time being. As a result, you will be able to keep three of these tasty treats of my homeland. All I need is a key to your house, so I can gift them to you. I will also provide garlic and butter and my skills as a chef as an added bonus for helping me out.

SquiggsIN: I'm just wondering how many American idiots will look at the picture and assume the thing is almost a foot long because they ASSUME the ruler uses inches.

Maybe some day the USA will stop being so arrogant and convert to metric.

While I agree that metric is the more rational and widely used system of measurement, particularly in scientific fields, you read an article about a Nigerian snail being smuggled into Scotland, and you felt the urge to make a dig at the American arbitrary system of measurement?

/At least we left the fortnight behind.

It took me a second, but the reason I immediately thought it may have been inches is the size of the smaller snail. Snails in this area have shells that are usually over an inch in diameter, so either snails in Britain are tiny or the picture used a relatively small scale in order to beef up the appearance of the larger snail.

And I mean, "arrogant?" Try lazy and stupid. THAT is why we haven't switched to metric, because people in the south don't f*cking realize that "tens" are easier.

Was talking to an elderly woman the other day and she started telling me about her younger, wilder days. She was going to Hong Kong with a chef and he wanted to smuggle on a live goat. She told him that was a stupid idea. Customs would definitely notice a goat in his luggage. So, they slaughtered the goat in the bathroom of the hotel they were staying in.

/think about that next time you travel.

Yes, but are they *racing* snails?

A. Fulicas are pretty fun actually, if you can keep the eggs under control. They make neat munching sounds. But yeah, letting one out of its enclosure would be a Bad Thing.

I hate these farking idiots. Next thing you know the snails get loose and wreck havoc on the local ecosystem.
