Don't know about anyone else...but if it were mine, a 15 year old would have to have one hell of a pedigree to be allowed to even sit behind the wheel of one of those, let alone have the keys in the same state as her at the time she was doing so.

P.S. There are actual agencies that you can report abuse to that are, believe it or not, more effective than Redditt or Fark.  But blog hitcounts are in the end, wildly important. So until then, I will completley believe our here's a picture of an expensive car that is piloted by an underage person that is playing the system story.  I mean there are photos and commentary right?  T

Let's see here,

Single Dad out of work spends savings to save $23 Billion house, house forecloses, Dad dies in traffic accident two days after foreclosure, leaves little girl with no remaining family, money, and a multi-million dollar car. Girl lives in apartment 12 miles from school.

Does that work?

Is it wrong for me to be insanely jealous of all these spoiled kids who drive cars their parents give them?

I grew up in a military household and didn't get a driver's license until I was 18, by virtue of living overseas. I bought my first car off my parents, an E32 BMW 750i when I was 21. My next car was a Dodge Challenger, again, that I scraped money together to buy. It's not a super exotic, it's a blue collar muscle car that isn't trying to be something it is not. But the point is they were both not given to me.

But when I see kids in these super exotics, expensive trucks, or muscle, when they clearly don't have a job, I get jealous, to the point of being incredibly mad. Is that a character flaw? I mean, hell, if the tables were turned I'd have loved to drive a retard fast car in high school. Hell, any car in high school would have been fine by me. But stories like this make me ticked. Give your kid a beater, or better yet, make them buy one themselves.

At this point I'm just rambling, but there is a part of me that wants to see said 15 year old FTFA wreck that car.

Pretty much. Lots of conspicuous consumption, narcissistic bragging, and debt-fueled showboating in the Dallas suburbs. I haven't the slightest clue why it is worse there than the normal background levels you find in most suburbs but it has somehow ingrained itself into the regional culture.

Whoop de doo.

They found a girl just shy of 16 driving a car early. There are loopholes everywhere.

It's like finding a nineteen-year-old having sex with a seventeen-year-old, or a 20-year old buying beer, or a 54 year old man smoking pot on his front porch, or a 17-year old boy happily banging his female teacher, or an inside trader finding out that the chairman of XYZ is about to blow out XYZ stock, so he sells XYZ.

Who cares.

Victimless crimes are victimless.

If you look at Dallas's history, it's always been inhabited by the noveau rich. Houston has a lot of old money. Dallas has a lot of new money. The thing that surprises me is that a girl who drives that car is going to a public school.

Dallas is all about flash, it's the home of the $40,000 millionaire. I know a guy in his late 20s with a five series bmw but lives in an apartment that has no furniture.

Dallas makes fun of itself. It's a self sustaining system of coked up lunacy and pretentious hobnobbery. In some whacked out sense it's really quite a perfect place. But please God, I beg of you, don't make me set foot there ever again.

I used to get irked seeing kids at my school driving brand new mercedes, beamers, mustangs, etc but no one ever drove a Lambo to my school. Though once a year a bunch of the country guys would drive their tractors to school and park them in a row.

2012-09-20 02:44:51 AM
This is pretty commonplace in Dallas, particularly around Plano.

"Home of the $50,000/year millionaire"

A good majority (there are some exceptions) of Dallas residents are ridiculously self-important and think they're a class above everyone else, their time is more valuable, etc.

It's like L.A., minus the culture, smog, Hollywood, and hills.

2012-09-20 02:49:28 AM
As there are only 150 of those cars in the world I guess it makes perfect sense to park it in a lot full of new inexperienced hormonally challenged drivers whipping about.

In Colorado, they say that happiness is a Texan heading south with an Okie under each arm.

My step dad was driving a school bus at age 12, in west Texas. That's what happens when you live so far out in the sticks that you have to walk towards town to go hunting.

Where in Dallas?

Oh, Coppell. Nevermind, it's full of refugees from California.

Down in Highland Park they don't drive to school, they're chauffeured.

Over in Argyle they drive tractors to school.

A student at Lewisville High School with $500 on him will be investigated as a drug dealer. 4 miles away, at Flower Mound High School, a student with $500 on him just got their allowance.

Let me get this straight.

Your first car was a BMW, and you're biatching because some kid's driving a Lamborghini? (Oh, I guess you were able to afford a BMW because you bought it from Mommy and Daddy, right?)

You are so enraged over what kind of car a stranger drives that you want to see said stranger get into an accident?

At 41, I'm still driving my first car, a Ford Escort nearly as old as the girl with the Lamborghini. Who gives a rat's ass what the kid drives? How does that affect anyone?

And am I the only one who's amazed that Top Sport of whatever it's called would give out ANY information on its clients?!

carrolton/coppell, not much difference. they're both southlake wannabes. all these people make me really glad i got the job i have in ft worth and not dallas. yes, there is plenty of rich and wannabe-rich in ft worth, but they all pale in comparison to the burbs of the big-d! unless you count westlake at a ft worth burb...but they're kind of in the middle.

also the "article" mentioned that a person with a "hardship" license shouldn't have an expensive car because the "hardship" is financial, yet lists the many reasons for obtaining such a license and only 1 of the reasons is financial.

Try to find a Super Trofeo Stradale or even just a Gallardo mechanic on a Saturday after all the flights from Italy are done. Believe me this girl has had a Romney size share of suffering.

I'm sorry, but even if I was rich enough to wipe my arse with the kind of money that a lambo costs I wouldn't give my highschool aged kid one so they can fracking kill themself in a 200 mph wreck in it.

2012-09-20 11:30:18 AM
I drove a brown 1989 Plymouth Voyager and the wood paneling had begun peeling off by the time I got my license. I mean, my friends called it the Mr. Hankey mobile because it looked like a piece of sh*t. They even affixed a Santa hat on it during the holidays. Being a NoVA kid my school parking lot was full of practical, boring but crazy expensive cars. In my assigned space I parked between a late model BMW and a Mercedes that looked to get a car wash and waxing on a weekly basis. Half way through the year the BMW was replaced with a year or two old Jag because the girl had wrecked her car at some point. I had first period with this girl and she was insufferable. When she wrecked the Jaguar I actually heard her say something along these lines:

"Yeah, got a ride with *Britteny this morning. My dad said he wasn't going to get me another car and said I should just drive my brother's. I mean seriously? It's like, 10 years old and hideous! I wouldn't be caught dead in that thing!"

*Name may or may not have been 'Britteny'
