It has nothing to do with politics, but "Noel" from Season 2 is my all-time favorite episode.

Just thought I'd share.

Rmoney's been Brolin this whole time. Someday I'd REALLY like to know what Obama's *Crime. Boy. I don't know* straw was . . . My money's on waaay before the MJ vids, even if they seem convenient references right now.

You seemed to have missed that from last week and Libya, didn't you?

/For future reference, Mitt, "Libya, boy, I dunno" is when I decided to kick your ass

nope, but I think it was even way before that. Hill (? i think) article a few weeks ago already had Obama wanting to crush him.  That's why I want to know what it REALLY was :-).

The one I've taken to heart:

"In the meantime, remember pluralism. You want to get these people? I mean, you really want to in and kill them where they live? Keep accepting more than one idea. Makes them absolutely crazy."

Lernaeus: Conservative or liberal, male or female, black or white, government is where people who produce nothing of value go to get fat paychecks to sit around and f*ck sh*t up through negligence, incompetence, and corruption.

Yes, lazy leeches with an anti-Midas touch are found exclusively in government positions. In no way can such people be found anywhere in private enterprise. That's why Office Space failed completely, because it didn't speak to anything people experience in the workplace. We can now proceed to trade anecdotes over how one is so much worse than the other.

It's like how Republicans deliberately and willfully break everything they can about government, then crow about how government can do nothing right.

Still one of my top five favorite TV shows ever. It was the last show on TV I remember looking forward to seeing every week because it was good. Love the first few seasons better, but they're all good. Still watch them on DVD. It's not reality, but it's the reality we wish we had. Hence, good TV. Reality TV sucks.

Also, American President was awesome. As was Sports Night. I see a trend.

GAT_00: Obama could really learn how to govern from Bartlet. Campaign Bartlet and Campaign Obama are good, but Governing Obama sucks.

Out of curiosity, how much of "governing Obama" do you believe is his fault, and what number do you give the intransigent GOP? I'm asking a genuine question. Furthermore, are you basically saying Obama doesn't pack the gear to serve in our beloved corps?

On some days I consider it 50/50, but on others it can trend upward of 70/30 with the cheap politics of the GOP in the lead. Keep in mind that I'm fairly well-known as a raging libtard, but obstructionism in the name of gaining points doesn't lie, and the fact that I'm more liberal than Obama (hell, who isn't) doesn't interfere with my thoughts. I genuinely feel the man has faced Sisyphean tasks with this Congress and therefore it's difficult to pin the majority of the blame on him.

He was supposed to do everything, and yet still have the 100% approval of Congress, never violate any laws and yet do things so breathtakingly illegal that, had they been done, would have met the Constitutional definition of treason.

Seriously, the attacks against Obama from all angles of the political spectrum have been astonishing for their doublethink: We want him to close down Gitmo, but not free any of the terrorists but keep them safe but not in my state! And when he couldn't do any of that it was HIS FAULT. We want him to balance the budget, cut costs and increase revenue but without stepping on any toes in Congress and without raising taxes or cutting services and despite filibustering and cloture issues! And when he couldn't it was HIS FAULT.

And it's been coming from everyone and nobody wants to consider that if Obama had in fact done the things people most condemn him for failing to do, he'd have had to be the dictator everyone seems to think he is. You can't have it both ways, either on the left or the right.

'Two Cathedrals' is mine.

All 7 seasons are good, and yes in many ways the series was remarkably prescient.

Two Cathedrals here too.

You're a son of a biatch, you know that?  She bought her first new car and you hit her with a drunk driver. What? Was that supposed to be funny? "You can't conceive, nor can I, the appalling strangeness of the mercy of God," says Graham Greene. I don't know whose ass he was kissing there, 'cause I think you're just vindictive. What was Josh Lyman - a warning shot? That was my son. What did I ever do to yours but praise his glory and praise his name? There's a tropical storm that's gaining speed and power. They say we haven't had a storm this bad since you took out that tender ship of mine in the North Atlantic last year. Sixty-eight crew. You know what a tender ship does? Fixes the other ships. It doesn't even carry guns. It just goes around, fixes the other ships and delivers the mail. That's all it can do. Gratias tibi ago, domine. Yes, I lied. It was a sin. I've committed many sins. Have I displeased you, you feckless thug? 3.8 million new jobs, that wasn't good?

Bailed out Mexico. Increased foreign trade. Thirty million new acres of land for conservation. Put Mendoza on the bench. We're not fighting a war. I've raised three children. That's not enough to buy me out of the doghouse?

Haec Credam a deo pio, a deo iusto, a deo scito? Cruciatus in crucem. Trus in terra servus, nuntius fui, officium perfeci. Cruciatus in crucem. Eas in crucem.

You get Hoynes.

The Latin:

Am I to believe these things from a righteous god? A just god? A wise god?

To hell with your punishments!
I was your servant, your messenger on the earth; I did my duty.

To hell with your punishments! And to hell  with you!

Lernaeus: Hey, West Wing fans ... remember that one episode where the office chick wore a Starfleet insignia to work in the White House, and Josh thought is was inappropriate, and she said 'but it represents my ideals', and he said 'yeah, but you're fetishizing it, so don't wear it to work'?

Yeah, stop fetishizing The West Wing.

It's nice to think of a government full of enlightened, Nobel-Prize-winning, witty characters that can recall Ivy League trivia, have the US Code memorized, and have a genuine love and concern for the great People of the United States ...

... but in REALITY, government is made of sniveling, greedy, talentless, unproductive, power-lusting nobodies who care about their and pensions and their little fiefdoms than they do anyone or anything else. Their sole motivation is to protect their own employment at whatever social or economic cost it takes. This is the way it has always been with giant governments, and the way it will always be. Conservative or liberal, male or female, black or white, government is where people who produce nothing of value go to get fat paychecks to sit around and f*ck sh*t up through negligence, incompetence, and corruption.

West Wing, like Star Trek was a fun fantasy, but it's never going to come true.

Your cynical, sweeping generalization is no more apt than the idealistic generalization that you decry.

My personal favorite scene was the National Cathedral in "Two Cathedrals" right when he does the bit with the cig. For real fun watch Sorkin's comments on the DVD for that ep.
