Could be worse. You could be a Saints fan going winless into week three, and nervous because you're seriously entertaining the possibility that you won't be able to beat the Chiefs in a home game.

You're forgetting one thing about Saints fans. Up until Breesus showed up we had 4 decades of tolerating teams ranging from really terrible to mediocre.

Watching the Saints fall below .500 for a year won't be too taxing on any serious long term Saints fan - we've developed thick skin.

On paper, much better than this.

Turns out:

A) you kinda need one of those
B) the sieve defence isn't Cassel's department anyway

Still... Raiders one of two, either the Browns game or the Colts, and one wtf game = 3 win season.

farbekrieg: with the exception of quarterback doesnt KC have a very talented team?

Short answer: no.

Long answer: Every single quality skill position player (and everybody but Eric Berry on the defense) is a holdover from the Edwards/Peterson regime from five years ago, we have four first-round picks on the defensive front that can't tackle*, a head coach/DC that admitted that the team needs to figure out "what (they're) about" two weeks into the regular season, a QB that throws at roughly half the speed of anybody else in the division, no competant backup QB, a first-round WR who was touted as the equal of Julio Jones by none other than Bill Belichick that has his face on a milk carton during games and injured himself for half of last year by punching Thomas Jones, a GM that's been 20+ million under the cap each year, and people like Jacque Reeves and John Asomougha (sp?) starting that should stay on the practice squad. Whew.

Yeah, the die-hards are not optimistic.

*Although to Glenn Dorsey's credit, he was drafted to play in a completely different scheme.

I'm an Eagles fan, looking at a 2-0 team that got a one-point win over a team they should have crushed, and a one-point win over a team that should have beaten them.

After the disaster of last year, I'm trying hard to be optimistic. But I can't get over the feeling that this is an average team with above-average luck.

Oh, I don't have to imagine. I've been living this since 1997. Sure, we've had some big win seasons since then, but that was really the last time you could seriously call us contenders. Even '03 when we had 13 wins, we couldn't have stopped a high school team on the field.

Unfortunately, this is going all the way up to Clark Hunt, who has only a passing interest in the teams success. As long as the tickets are selling, he probably doesn't even check the scores. Assuming we do fire Pioli after this year, he'll just pick the next GM by picking some understudy in the front office of the Packers or Steelers or Ravens, they won't be ready for the job and will try to exactly emulate the style of their former bosses, but not actually have the knowledge or instinct to succeed, and we'll be set for another 5-6 year run of "OK we're rebuilding/Hey these guys aren't half bad, maybe/Nope actually not so much".

I'm openly rooting for 0-16 right now, just on the off chance that Matt Barkley might turn out to be good. Shiat, I think i'd take King Carl back at this point.

And what does that get the Chiefs? Best case, a 9-7 record and another first-round destruction at the hands of the Steelers or Texans? And another two years of Pioli thinking the way to win in the NFL is running your franchise like a CIA covert op?

Can't argue with that. Of course it's unlikely that either of those guys throws 3 INTs in a half and still wins.

Diehard Chiefs fan here. Last Sunday was the first time that I ever recall turning the game off and walking away before it was over. I love Romeo, but he just doesn't cut it as a head coach. Matt Cassel is nothing more than a 2nd string QB. Defense looks horrid, and apparently Jamal Charles's shelf life just expired. Not optimistic.

So much this. Watching Green Bay or Atlanta or, hell, any other Pro team after a Chiefs game really shows you how slow they are. Cassel can't get the ball off like a Rodgers and he sure as hell can't get it accurately down the field. (Every time the receiver has to stop his route and come back to the ball, drink. I DARE you.) Bowe and Breaston and Moaki have talent, but they HAVE to have a QB who can hit them in-stride.

It's OK to have differing opinions over which place has the best BBQ, as long as they are both KC BBQ joints.

My opinion - you know how sometimes you want pizza, sometimes you want a burger, and sometimes you want wings? Well, sometimes you want Bryant's, sometimes you want Gates, sometimes you want Jackstack...

To be fair, Atlanta has a pretty good offense, and Spiller also made the Jets defense look like pylons.

I was born and raised in Bumfark Wyoming so had no real local pro team to cheer for. Sure there were the Donks 6 hours away, but I'm trying to have a serious conversation here. So in the 5th grade I chose the Chiefs to be my team for some reason. It was when they had Okoye and Barry Word and the best defense ever, but whatever. How awesome was Okoye in Tecmo Super Bowl? That must be why I picked them.

Most of you people, if you could go back in time, would go kill and/or make love to Hitler or something heroic/creepy like that. I would go back in time to the 5th grade and and tell myself "NO. SOMEONE ELSE, ANYONE ELSE. THE farkING BROWNS I DON'T CARE" or something like that. I can't pick a different team, but I'm sick and tired of being let down year after year.

I don't disagree with that, but with Berry returning, on top of DJ and Hali, we were "supposed" to be a top 10 defense, especially with the defensive-minded Romeo as HC.

Especially after Hue hoodwinked Mark into paying five times what Palmer was worth.

The Chiefs biggest issue has seemed to have been bad timing. After the merger the Dolphins, Raiders and Steelers were running circles around them, then when DT and Okoye were good Scottenheimer turned into a crackhead in the playoffs. Not to mention the good years they got out of Priest and Trent Green were shot by the minimum wage defense of King Carl.
