Really don't know that I agree with this move. I understand that they're down to Chris Davis and half a pack of Big League Chew in the bullpen after last night/this morning, but Bundy still needs at least another season or two in the minors before he's really ready. Let him keep developing into a Mike Mussina (or better) rather than run the risk of turning him into another Ben McDonald.

He'll just get in an inning or 2 if they need him, and I don't even know that he'd stay with the team past next week. I'm sure he's AAA bound next spring anyway.

When hooters jiggle around,
and I find nickels on the ground, I care.
When a mustang engine purrs,
and the bathroom is not hers, I care.
When the pitcher's on the mound,
and the wife is underground, I care.
But when I've been playing this for days,
I will kill anyone who stays, I swear!
To which Peggy adds:
...and if you really want a scare,
check out his underwear,
if you dare.

Last I saw him he was doing studio spots on ESPNU during last year's CWS.

Fun fact I heard: he joins Bryce Harper and Jurickson Profar as 19-year-olds in MLB. Last time this many 19-year-olds reached the bigs in one season was 1984, with Dwight Gooden, Jose Rijo, and the legendary Junior Noboa.

Yeahbut...once they pop a guy's big-league cherry it makes it so much easier to bring him back up next season, and then before you know it he's in the starting rotation come June. Or heaven forbid he tears it up in an outing or two during this callup & all of a sudden the front office talks themselves into carrying him on the major league roster for opening day.

I know this is the first playoff run in 15 years, but he wasn't so dominant in Frederick & Bowie that he needs to be fast-tracked. Let him come along slowly & hopefully turn into a guy that can give us a good decade before the Yankees buy him.

He's there for insurance for the next couple of games because of the 18 inning fiasco a couple of days after the 14 inning game against Tampa last week. He's already on the 40 man roster so it doesn't require any counter move by Duquette. If they get a good start out of Saunders (I almost typed that without crying) and from whoever is starting Friday @ BOS (I cannot remember who that is at the moment) he will be back in the Instructional League (which is where they plucked him from) next week.

If nothing else he gets a taste of playoff atmosphere baseball and gets to fly first class for a couple of days. I don't think they will do anything to hurt him long term.

/McDonald was a great college pitcher
//but his fastball looked like it was being rolled down a pipe
///cool guy, though. Met him once.

I'm not worried. I think the Kerry Wood story has taught every team to be patient (and careful) with their young stars.

You mean not to let Dusty Baker near their young arms? I am afraid Walt Jocketty has made that mistake.

Baker = most overrated manager ever

He is not going to start, he is only up to eat innings if the starter tonight (Saunders?) has problems.

He will not sniff a start this year.

I don't worry about it once Johnson gets in there for the save.

Half game back on the Yankees, but now a half game up on Oakland for the top WC. :)

No. Fark them.
Fark their not scoring in 11 extra innings at home asses.
Fark them for screwing the Yankees over Cliff Lee.
Fark them for that lemon Pineda (I'll rescind this if he has a good year next year, though I suppose yanno, -actually playing- would be an improvement).
Fark them for breaking A-Rod's hand.
Fark them for 1995.
Fark the Mariners. Right in the ear.

Seems that way. Best-in-the-majors 15-2 in extras.
27-8 in one-run games, too.

Were there any Seattle-ites watching the game last night?

I fell asleep in front of the TV and woke up in the bottom of the 11th. I had the Seattle feed on (mlb.tv only gives you the home feed unless you upgrade to premium) and I could swear they had the score listed as 3-3. I watched the double play, the walk and the caught stealing with no clue that the O's were up by 2. I didn't realize they won until after the O's threw out the guy at 2nd for the last out.

Was I imagining things in my midnight haze?

Went to bed after the game, and got paged at 2:30am. It took me another hour to get back to sleep, up at 6:45, get the kids to school, get myself to work. Home at 6:05.

I'm glad the O's have an off day today.
