/RELEASE THE QB

2012-09-19 02:30:02 PM
We were going to go 0-4 no matter what to start the year with Locker starting. Those are nasty games for him to start. CJ needs to lose his job NOW though. Locker has no hope of succeeding without a running game and he has apparently lost all of his skill. And don't just bench him, cut him. He doesn't deserve another cent.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA the Tennesean thinks only letting me view 20 articles will inspire me to pay for it. Hahaha. No.

Locker might be serviceable, but the Titans biggest issues are CJ0K not caring since he got paid and their best WR having so many off field issues that he's suspended (Britt). And frankly the Browns, Dolphins and perhaps Vikings are gunning for that number 1 pick.

/Saints too, given their current record.

LucklessWonder: Locker might be serviceable

Locker did surprisingly well off the bench last year. Remember he almost lead a come from behind victory and knocked off the Ravens from the bench. But when there is no option but to pass, Locker can't succeed. He's making some bad reads, but any new QB will make bad reads. Locker can be good.

2012-09-19 03:29:59 PM
Yep, CJ-2K has got to go. I would laugh my arse off if Eddie George was called in just to escort him from the stadium. Why the hell did we get rid of Lendale White?

2012-09-19 03:31:16 PM
So would the Titans say they were absolutely thrilled to have caved to Chris Johnson's contract demands or merely ecstatic?

/RB is no longer a marquee position in the NFL, stop over paying them

2012-09-19 03:32:01 PM
Well, the upside to this is that with the #1 pick they'll finally draft a serviceable QB. The downside to this, is I'll have to cheer for that douche from USC.

I was under the impression that White was great as a short yardage back because he was like 300lb, and then when he lost weight they figured out he wasn't actually very good as a running back, and you can't base your running game off of a guaranteed yard and a half every carry..

2012-09-19 03:37:40 PM

Jubeebee: and you can't base your running game off of a guaranteed yard and a half every carry..

That would be an upgrade currently.

It looks like Ringer is still the backup. Put him out for a game, see how he does.

Locker has the physical talent and toughness, no doubt there. Honestly, as inconsistent as you see him now, he at times looked WORSE when at UW, and it wasn't always just against the best competition.

I'm not Husky fan (nor a Titan fan), but I'll be pulling for him mostly because he bought us a round of drinks once and, yeah, that's all it really takes for me to like someone.

Because he was fat and shiatty.

Forgot about that Ravens game. Locker might indeed be good, but as the Titans are currently constructed he is no more than serviceable.

It doesn't help that Chris Johnson only managed two more yards than Danny Amendola of the Rams had receptions on Sunday...

2012-09-19 03:43:37 PM
I mean, do you really want to kill the guy's confidence after his first two games? You chose him as the starting QB so you ride it out for a while. Most guys aren't going to come in and pull a Cam Newton.

2012-09-19 03:43:50 PM
Weird, isn't it? Most people would run faster after stealing $50 million, but not Chris Johnson.

2012-09-19 03:50:23 PM
And this is the team Mike Florio picked to win the division, and the Texans wouldn't even sniff the playoffs.

Riiiiiiiiight. Florio just likes the cheap heat he gets for making stupid comments.

And he's a horrible journalist. Hey Mike, ever heard of spell check? geez.

Anyone blaming locker for what's happened in the first two games, or worse, think Hasselbeck would've made any difference, clearly did not watch those games. The blocking was horrible, CJ completely sucks, the defense can't stop the run OR the pass, and the coaches have been firmly outschemed and outcoached in every phase of the game.

Sticking with Locker neither changes our chances of winning, in my opinion, nor is called for. The jury is still way, way out on Locker. This team is a disaster for a myriad of other reasons.

2012-09-19 04:19:38 PM
I'm a WSU grad, and I hated to play Locker in college at UW. He will get better, he is one of those kind of players that learns through gaining more and more experience. He is a solid athlete and a really really good leader. He is one of those kind of kids you just hate to root against.

I hope Locker has a great NFL career and people learn patience with him.

2012-09-19 04:20:42 PM
Titans fans, is there any hope for Robert Johnson at safety? Loved the guy at Utah, been hoping for him to get a chance. This article is not very hopeful.

Not to defend CJ too much because it's become rather apparent that he gives zero shiats any longer, but he's averaging 1.2 yards after contact and his YPC this season is 1.1.

No Joke

That is some 2010 era Colts shiat right there

Not in your starter, but as a short-yardage back you certainly can. See Jerome Bettis, Zach Crockett, etc.

The non-existent running game is to blame for the offense sucking, not Locker. Piss-poor blocking and tiptoeing at the line is not a running game, fellas.

Only if he makes a deal with the devil.

Agree with everyone who says Hasselbeck couldn't do much better. Might as well bring back Steve McNair. He'd be just as good at this point.

And it's not like they're able to wear teams out to get to the point where he, like other RBs, gets the defense tired and gets longer runs. You actually have to get first downs to have that happen.

Just spread that Madden money out over the offensive line.

Yeah it's the entire offense, Locker included, not just CJ. I've only seen parts of Titans games this year, but nothing on the offensive side of the ball (play calls, efforts, execution) looked even average.

When there are no holes to run through, backs tiptoe at the line as they try to figure out where the hell to go.

It's not his fault he's the leading rusher on the team. With 32 yards. With four total attempts.

True, but they also tiptoe when indecisive because they want the "home run" carry instead of taking the small hole for a sure 4 yards and grinding it out. Forcing backs with "one cut and go" is what worked so well for Shanahan everywhere he goes, turning nobodies into successes at the position.

At the rate the Chiefs are going, you might be right. But I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chiefs start out around 1-6, then win four or five games, then level off to finish 8-8 again. On the other hand, I also wouldn't be surprised to see Cassel benched after starting 0-5 and the Chiefs finishing 5-11 or worse.

That's the love/hate relationship with the National...Football...League. You never know what's going to happen from week to week. Christ, the Patriots were 14 point favorites over the Cardinals and completely shiat the bed, so who knows how this will turn out.

All told, I'd say the Browns, Titans, and Jaguars are in the front-runner spot for No. 1.

So between Locker and Barkley their QBs will be a combined 0-7 against Stanford?

CJ is currently averaging more yards after contact than he is yards per carry, so I don't think tiptoeing around the LOS is the problem for the Titans.

As someone from the PNW, I'm f*cking tired of hearing about Jake Locker. By his senior year at Washington, he still wasn't all that spectacular. Carson Palmer had similar issues with coaching staff changes at USC, but he won the f*cking HEISMAN as a Senior. MATT FREAKING MOORE was better by the end of his senior season (albeit a different year) than Jake Locker was (and he's a better NFL quarterback).

Jake Locker is a very, very poor man's Michael Vick, just bigger and slower and with a weaker arm and less athletic. He's smarter than Vick, but so is a table.

Look, Fantasy owners aren't that different from real GMs in their thinking. Looks at C2J over the past 2 season:
"I can't sit him, I spent a a top pick on him!" Then they'll complain every week while he gets them 2 pts.

Same holds with a WR. Pay your QB, pay your lines, if you have a great TE, pay him.

I can take an undrafted free agent RB who played at a decent college last year and plug him in, and the production's going to be similar.

Too bad for Munchak, loved watching him play although there are few things I enjoy more than watching Bud Adams' team lose. He tried to hold the city of Houston hostage and then when he didn't get what he wanted, moved the Oilers to Tenn. Bob McNair is a much better owner and the Texans have a better chance of winning a Super Bowl after 10 years than the Titans/Oilers who've never won one in all the years of Super Bowls. Oh, and how's that Vince Young pick working out for you Bud?

Jake Locker is gonna destroy Detroit Sunday.

Detroit's defensive front is overrated, their linebackers weak and their secondary shiat.

Do you honestly believe that entire statement? Being overrated isn't bad if you're miles ahead of what you're competing against.

You have to get up pretty early in the day to beat the Browns Clowns in this race.
