"Yeah, but that's different. My dad would become a CEO of a major automobile company, responsible for thousands of jobs, he wasn't some lazy, freeloading Mexican brown-skinned, drug-addicted sex-maniac with 9 kids and 10 ex-girlfriends."

I picture them seeing these things, then sighing and shaking their heads ruefully. "Well, there's another carefully-planned attack that Mitt just hit himself with."

I have a feeling that George and Lenore would be deeply ashamed at how their son has turned out.

I think the Romney campaign is being clever. They're releasing so much derp that it's hard for Democrats to attack EVERYTHING, and the media can't focus on it all.

My understanding was that a successful businessman took notice of him and gave him the means to succeed.

The Romney campaign is astoundingly craptastic. Given his mom's comment here and his dad's tax return precedent, Mitt appears to have fallen very far from the tree. Or, more likely, he just doesn't care about care about anything else than his own ambition. I honestly doubt that Romney wants to be president to serve the country. I think he wants to be president for the sake of being president.

I dunno, man, I always envision them sorta cringing and scowling uncomfortably. It's gotta be something like being a professional basketball player playing some one-on-one with a random overweight office worker that you were previously assured was totally in your league and would give you a good game. And the office worker takes genuine offense at you when he trips on his own shoelaces and stuff.

I mean, surely they came in expecting to go mano-a-mano with some Rove-level shiat, and what they get is the crayon drawings from the day-care center by the campus Republican's club at DeVry. That's got to be more uncomfortable and embarrassing than pleasurable.

Especially when some of the refs are going "PERSONAL FOUL! That was uncalled for!"

"... I am at the other end of the mother-lovin court."

"YOU COMMITED A FOUL AGAINST HIM, WE'LL GIVE HIM SOME POINTS, THE GAME IS NOW NECK AND NECK."

He wants to be president so that when he's done he can speak like 10 times a year for $100,000 each time, so with that and his investments, he doesn't really have to do shiat for the rest of his life.

Only a sociopath derives joy from beating a man who is in no way his equal.
That's how I feel, anyhow.
If i'm playing a game, I want those around me to play their hardest, do their best, and hopefully to be as good as me at it.

Either you're posting from the middle of a Kansan wheat field, or you meant "Farkers" and need to requisition a new keyboard from Drew.

So are the "Farmers/Farkers" right or wrong? (Extra credit: do you know there might be more than one Romney?)

No, that's just a weakness. If Romney 2012 were just weak in one area it'd still be kind of a fair fight, even an area as important as "knowing what the internet is". Bush's team in 2004 and even 2000 didn't really get how the rumor mill had shifted and still did fine.

Romney's campaign doesn't have weak points, it _is_ a weak point. They put the wrong candidate presenting the wrong persona (which is not his own, doubling the fail because he can't act) on stage backed up by a bad speech writer, a bad media management team, a poorly thought-out strategy, a financial support network divorced from popular support altogether, spin officers that fail at spinning things, and rumor-herders who are just throwing shiat at the wall because they think Rove's precision takedowns were just a matter of getting lucky.

There is literally no person with even a modicum of political acumen or skill on the entire team. It was apparently assembled by Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, except in real life that doesn't result in accidental smash hits.

Mitt Romney's dad was born in 1907. He came to the US as a war refugee in 1912 and were on relief for a few months when the first arrived. His father moved the family to LA, worked as a carpenter, then in 1913 they bought a farm in Idaho. In 1912, total state, local and federal expenditures were about 5% of GDP. They now are 33%. Only a handful of Republicans, and certainly not Romney, are suggesting eliminating the entire "safety net", but I don't think it's ridiculous to wonder if having half the country receiving benefits without paying anything in has the potential to create problems.

This can only mean Romney is gunning for the only thing he wants more than the Presidency - more money. He probably put down a huge chunk of change on Obama much earlier in the campaign when the odds were more favorable to Romney.
