I sat down to watch FNC to get the Right's viewpoint. Hannity comes on and he has his talking points. In fact, he endlessly repeated the talking point. He said:26 million people are on Food Stamps!! at least 15 times in a 5 minute segment. The next he was talking about Obama and Romney and how it's Obama waging class warfare, and he said Obama is waging class warfare about 17 times. he first introduces the segment and the buzzword, convolutes the situation from Romney being at fault to Obama being at fault, then endlessly says the buzzwords.

Prior to him was O'Reilly, and folks have problems with him, but I like O'Reilly. At least 5 times during his show, and including a segment with a Romney talking head, he cut them off, told them they were lying, being disingenuous, or spreading falsehoods, then corrected their mistake with the truth. Sure, he has a serious right wing slant to his show, but called it like it is: Romney said the 47%, yadda, yadda, yadda... O'Reilly broke down the numbers of the 47%, then presented his own facts of only 40% on Government assistance by his own research and that Romney was off target with the numbers, but on target with his message, then admitted it's not a message most people want to hear from a very successful business man, but it's time people started taking their medicine. Hiding their heads in the sand to the problem will not get the problem fixed, and Romney is trying to preach a platform of 'do for yourself, because no one else will do for you'.

I respect O'Reilly, though I disagree with some of his stuff, he's educated, he does his research and he presents it out there for all to see, even when it's not exactly popular.

HST's Dead Carcass: O'Reilly broke down the numbers of the 47%, then presented his own facts of only 40% on Government assistance by his own research and that Romney was off target with the numbers, but on target with his message, then admitted it's not a message most people want to hear from a very successful business man, but it's time people started taking their medicine. Hiding their heads in the sand to the problem will not get the problem fixed, and Romney is trying to preach a platform of 'do for yourself, because no one else will do for you'.

What Romney said - "there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it -- that that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... [M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

I agree that Romney may very well agree with the platform of "do it for yourself" but suggesting that such a huge chunk of the American populace is *not* taking responsibility for their lives and actively desires and seeks out government benefits that they believe they are entitled to is stupid and insulting.

So, you've fallen for it. Well, to be fair, it is slightly less transparent than most other right wing shills, so at least you've got that going for you.

I will always listen to what the opposition has to parade around as it helps form a FULL opinion for me. I guess I could sit around and listen to the echo chamber of my own ideals, but I prefer the full story, plus, how am I supposed to know the other sides tactics if I'm not paying attention.

Again, O'Reilly is slanted, but at least he tries to stay factual.

They lower your expectations with Hannity, so that O'Reilly seems reasonable by comparison? Great strategy.

The problem with Romney's statement is obvious: a billionaire who started off with his daddy's money & was later bailed out by the federal government should really STFU about people 'never taking responsibility.

The talking point now is that The Big Bad Media That Hates Pure-As-Driven-Snow Conservatism and is Full of America-Hating ObamarxunistsTM edited the tape.

Never mind that Mother Jones has released the full video and James O'Keefe still never has. With any of his videos.

The GOP holds the House of Representatives, has a good chance at taking the Senate, and will garner roughly 48% of the popular vote in the Presidential election. That's pretty good for a "trainwreck".

They divert the media's and the electorate's short attention spans with fleeting, fuzzy objects -- like the main canine character in the animated Pixar movie "Up," who was easily distracted from his main thoughts and serious duties by every last little moving trifle.
