can't wait for their upcoming merger with US Scare to form probably the single most loathed airline in the history of earth.

Because they've run out of ways to maximize profits

Anyone remember back in the 80s when AA was considered a model of the industry, using the fandangled new hub and spoke route map, and had many quality employees headquartered at Arlington Texas and DFW, and was the envy of the industry?

Me either.

This is for our convenience and for better service, right?

Great, carry on then.

As a BA FF, this is what has me worried. I can handle AA, but not US.

This is what I really don't understand. How are European and especially ME and Asian carriers able to afford a dramatically better experience in every single way?

I just got back from a trip using AA. Not one of the 4 legs of my flights went off without a hitch.

1 cancellation
4 delays 2 for maintenance.

And don't get me started on the $9 boarding charge necessary to get on before the hoards of carry ons that are avoiding the $25 checked bag fee.

And they should name this new creation "Delta".

They'd have to do much better than that to rival Air Canada.

Got to say, maybe it's because I'm at one of their larger hubs, but US Air has been pretty good to me.

AA, NW, United, Delta? Not even close.

/none of them hold a candle to their foreign counterparts (in the industrialized world at least)

As a US FF, I've always found the opposite....AA was terrible and US was acceptable. I guess it helps that they have upgraded every single plane to have at least some first class seats.

Which again, makes US a bit better, their foreign partners in the star alliance really help make those air miles worth collecting

The CEO's 3.6 million in total compensation isn't just going to grown on a tree, you know.

Remember that these poor sap just didn't work hard enough. So what if there are more people than jobs? BOOTSTRAPS!

US Airways is fine if you don't mind having everyone try to sign you up for their credit card at every turn. I halfway expect the pilot to walk down the aisle mid-flight with credit card applications.

It gets super annoying if you are on multiple US Airways connecting flights in a week. It's as if the advertisement printed on the goddamn tray table isn't enough to get your attention.

Sitting on an AA flight typing this, getting kick, etc.
In addition to the cancellations, the delays are reportedly being caused by the unofficial pilot "slowdown". Any minor "Maintenance" issue is being reported, think broken armrest and the like. They are not pleased with their new deal.

As an Exec Plat on AA, I have no interest in a US merger, the latest rumor I have heard is that British Airways could be the white knight, and invest the maximum allowed by a foreign carrier. Would make sense as they have continued pushing their partnership further operationally over the last couple of years.

And don't worry, he's done such a great job he'll land another CEO position easily, with more money because he obviously has the talent and we must, above all, pay "top talent" as much as possible. Even if they bankrupt every company they run.

Then imagined this being read by a voice over loudspeaker recording while a guy in a red vest stood there ignoring me.

Air Canada once scheduled a plane for people who had been caught in the weather, but neglected to schedule a pilot for it. Jerks.

work at DFW.....getting a kick.....ect....

Yeah, if you're flying AA, then don't expect to be on-time. I've never seen the number of OTS planes I've seen since the judge threw out the pilot's contract. Remember, the captain can refuse an aircraft for any reason. I've seen them refuse a plane because the coffee maker didn't work. Also, flight crews tends to get lost in the airport right before they go illegal. Not that I blame 'em..... those "temporary" 9/11 pay cuts and give backs that ended up helping pay for many executive bonuses have got everyone upset. Gotta go, 175 to NRT is OTS again!

The regional carrier here, Great Lakes, is slightly better than just taking a hang glider off the tallest building in town. The amount of suck required to exceed those guys is going to be tough to achieve.

Once the Wright Amendment is burning in Legal Hell where it belongs, I'll be able to take Southwest direct anywhere I might want to go. Score.

Aa was one of the only airlines not to go through bankruptcy last decade. Their employee coats were higher than the other airlines, thus so we're tickets. Consumers chose the cheaper airlines.

Employee costs were higher because other airlines renegotiated wages with unions during bankruptcy.

Consumers are the ones choosing against union wages, not corporate greed.

Four. FOUR goddamn times on my Delta flight from MSP to LAX. Once while preparing for takeoff, once when they were serving drinks, once when we were preparing for landing and THEN a final time when were getting ready to deplane. Are you farking serious?!

If JetBlue or Southwest don't fly there, its not worth going to. At least in the US.

Every day I wake up and find that US Airways is still in business I'm truly, honestly boggled. Never before in my life have I seen an airline so inept at what seems like every function expected of a passenger airline.

/ Bumped me from 3 flights in a row
// Only airline not taking off due to "weather" when every other airline was fine on the same route.

2012-09-20 05:14:21 PM
I spent 11 hours in ORD on Sunday cause of this BS. Thankfully there is free beer at the Admiral's club.

I still have a few scheduled flights with AA. On Saturday, another on Monday and another on Thursday. After those are done I will be booking the rest on Delta. I may have status with AA but I can't afford these fake delays.
