I was thinking it was a good hunch on their part... They may have seen the timestamp on the receipt. That coupled with the fact that it was a prepaid phone made them suspicious.

In addition to legitimate uses, a phone paid for in cash is used by thugs and criminals. -It's a great way to keep their dealings semi-anonymous and their phone disposable.
