1-Romney considers 200-250K 'middle class'.
2-Romney glows about taking jobs overseas.
3-Romney says that 47% feels 'entitled' to food, shelter and health care.

How does this not mean that Romney is only out for himself and the very wealthy.

Z-clipped: T.M.S.: Are you in Manila? Would you like to attend the opening night of the musical NINE this Friday night? It's at the Carlos P. Romuld Auditurum of RCBC Plaza and I have an extra ticket.

I'm not, I'm down in Visayas, and can't pick up and leave because I have a Physics exam that day. But holy crap, thanks for the offer- that's extremely kind of you. If you end up spending any length of time here, and you want to get away for a few days and go diving at a world heritage site, shoot me an email. I live about an hour or so from Apo island.

That is so kind of you to offer. The only diving I have done here was one day during the off season. And apropos of my earlier comment it was also strange to me. When I called the resort asking if it was possible to do a single two tank day they said "certainly Sir, we will be happy to accommodate you." When I arrived it turned out that the entire resort was shut down for the season. Yet they opened the entire place just for me.

Certainly that was because I was there to spend some money but I cannot imagine the little I payed them made it worth all that trouble. The staff was absurdly accommodating.

Good luck with your exams. And perhaps we can meet soon. I will be back here in a year or so with a Disney premiere and would love to have you as my guest.

Lumpmoose: Eapoe6: How many people to a bathroom in a corporate headquarters? Remember to count all those peeing visitors clogging up the conference rooms.

Yeah, I don't doubt that conditions are deplorable but I have no basis upon which to compare "120" as being large or small. "Bathroom" doesn't tell you how many stalls there are, either. And besides a comparison to corporations in America, I'd like to know how it compares to other public and private bathrooms in China, not just the USA. The worst bathroom I've ever seen in my life was at a train station in Nanjing. We're talking turn around and try to forget what you just saw, bad.

I'd need to know stalls, actual frequency of use, cleanliness, etc. The 120 number all by itself isn't that useful.

I clean bathrooms for a living, so let me tell you. One of any practically sized bathroom is not enough for 120 people to share.

StreetlightInTheGhetto: Epoch_Zero: I should be in the kitchen: heavymetal: What is not brought up but part of the Republican narrative is that is how they want job conditions in the U.S. Why else do yo think they want to destroy organized labor and labor laws? They want to make the American worker so desperate they will accept a lower standard of living, less pay, and no benefits.

They're succeeding, to a degree, already. I know I'm not alone among employed Farkers who have had benefits cut and wages frozen while taking on more and more work. My CEO's attitude is exactly that: we should be grateful to have jobs.

I'm in that boat with you.

When my dad got laid off, he was essentially doing 3 jobs for the salary of one. Because he was one of the last to get laid off, you see, but the work still had to be done.

They then hired him back as a f--king temp for half a year - hourly, of course, no benefits, etc., - because whoops, we need people who know what they're doing so we can shift this whole thing over to Mexico. Once that was done, he was gone again.

My dad has worked his ass off his entire life, pulled himself out of a very working class family in Detroit, got himself the best education in the state, and that was really horribly depressing to watch.

On the plus side, he's got a full time job again. A contractor to one of the Big 3 realized that outsourcing their product tracking and monitoring and forecasting and whatever else to India didn't work all that great. He's working like crazy to learn all of these new programs and such - but funny how a job with security, decent pay, and benefits on day 1 makes people *want to work*. Whenever I see him he's way happier than he ever was with former jerk company.

Glad to hear things worked out in the end. It's horribly depressing when people who do everything "right"--work their asses off, get a good education, etc.--get screwed over through no fault of their own. It makes you feel completely powerless. It took my fiance nearly two years to get back to work permanently, in the industry he's worked in his entire adult life. He's been at his job for almost a year now and we're finally caught back up financially, actually doing pretty well (we live together and combine our finances) but I still feel anxious and find myself being almost miserly with my money since I'm afraid it could all go away in an instant.

Bigdogdaddy: THE GREAT NAME: 120 Chinese girls in a bathroom=hot. Romney=not.

I guess you guys have never been inside a public woman's bathroom? Talk about nasty......(I know because I work electrical maintenance)...you know...work on the lights and things...yeah...that's it

Actually, this surprised me significantly also. When I was 20 I was working at a resort and was initially hired for a housekeeping position. On occasion due to the female teammate being out sick I would have to clean some of the female restrooms. While guys are just inherently dirty women sure put on a show of being clean unless it is a bathroom. Bloody tampons strewn all over the place often times on the opposite side of their little trash can. Sometimes they would be stuck to a wall etc. It was absolutely filthy.

I lived in China in 5 years ago and I can say that that toilet is pretty standard.

//I have seen and been to some really rugged bathrooms in China.

His story does have a precedent. Those chained and locked doors at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory were there to keep out people who desperately wanted to get in to be burned alive.
