Fark Cons think it was the greatest thing, maybe Eastwood doesnt understand what Eastwood was trying to do.

I don't think it was sabotage, I just think he gave absolutely zero farks and said exactly what he wanted to say. As weird as it was, it was a refreshingly honest peanut in the turd of the RNC.

Don't say "peanut". Republicans feed animals by throwing peanuts at them.

He appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres' talk show and said he was libertarian and supports gay marriage.

Wow, a libertarian that actually gets it.....The man, like myself, has always been socially liberal. Conservatives and liberals will constantly be at battle for the fiscal control of our country which is why I feel that the only thing to really focus on is preserving individual rights.

I saw that line in the Times this morning and laughed heartily.

Libertarians nowadays are basically Republicans with Groucho glasses on. They carry heavy fiscally conservative values, say jackshiat about social rights and just don't want to admit their connection to George Bush. At least Eastwood is what a libertarian should be.

While I'm glad he said this, I still have doubt about anybody that thinks Mitt Romney has any business sense in the first place and that running the Government like a farking business is in any way a good idea.

Still, could be worse.

Eastwood says it was Romney's 'people,' not the former governor himself, who asked Eastwood to speak at the convention.

Getting Clint Eastwood to make an idiot of himself on live television?

Mitt has people for that.

Classy!

he makes sense for the first time in half a century.

It's like Eastwood said, he doesn't think Obama is doing great, and Romney/Ryan happen to be some other guys that came along so why not.

As powerful an endorsement as I've ever seen.

I don't know why people gave Clint Eastwood such grief about that speech. My sofa thought it was quite eloquent.

I don't understand how Clint can still call himself a Republican. He agrees with the Democrats on almost every issue. The things he is mad at Obama about are the things he couldn't do due to Republican sabotage.Maybe he is ok with sacrificing his values for a tax cut? If so, does that make him a bad person?

I don't think he cares that much.
And he sure as hell wasn't doing it for the benefit of the Democrats.
He did it because he wanted the paycheck.
He winged it because he thought he could pull off an ad lib (he couldn't).
Trolling Republicans was gravy, but not intentional.
He really is that sad bitter old man from Gran Torino.

And he probably got seven figures from the Romney people to do it.

They thought they were getting Dirty Harry to speak at the RNC, and he gave them Clyde.

I still maintain that Clint didn't know he was filming that movie. The producers got him blackout drunk one night and the next day he woke up in Detroit and just rolled with it.
