I've found that's generally the sentiment to most Hanson music from the last few years. You'd think it would be terrible, but it ends up being not bad actually. They'll never ever be able to shake that Mmmbop song, but the fact they play their own instruments and write their own lyrics, earns them much more respect than the typical boy band crap that came out of the 90's.

Agreed. I'm not a fan, but I respect them for this, and different people that I know have seen them live and said they were really entertaining and fun to watch.

And might I suggest... Big Time Rush's "Woohoo" song that I hear maybe every 20 minutes while the kiddo watches Spongebob, et al. It's got other lyrics, but the hook/chorus is entirely Blur's Song No. 2.

That song now makes me stabby.

This is the semi-annual reminder that Taylor Hanson put out a really good power pop album a couple years ago with Bun E. Carlos from Cheap Trick and James Iha from Smashing Pumpkins. Google up some Tinted Windows.

Holy Christ on a cracker, you aren't kidding. Usually I can find some redeeming quality in a song - good to dance to, fun to sing, creative use of harmony - but that was truly terrible. There isn't one thing to like about it. It's the musical equivalent of explosive diarrhea.

I thought Hanson immensely improved this song. I made it much further than I ever have listening to Taylor's version.

He grew up to be quite handsome. I would have blushed and shyly told him I was a fan.

Heck, I blushed when I met John Kruk and told him I would be honored if I could shake his hand. (He is also a grounded, stand-up type guy.)

My fiancee is a Hanson fan. These things happen, no use pointing fingers at this point.

Anyhoo, since we started dating in 2007, I've seen Hanson in concert 9 times.

Nine times?

Niiiiine times.

In the interest of full disclosure, I like pop music. I love bad music from the 80's. My taste is wide, but it's generally accepted by most of my friends that, regardless of genre, it's also bad.

That having been said, I really like Hanson's stuff. I can't always get behind their early stuff, and unlike the future Mrs. Patronick313 I don't love every song, however the past three albums have been really good.

We're actually going to see Hanson in Jamaica this January. Conversation went like this:

CSB

Me: We need to plan a vacation
Her: Ok

two weeks later

Her: So how about Jamaica? I got a deal on this all inclusive resort, food, booze, activities - everything.
|Me: Sure, sounds good. Let's book it.
Her: K. BythewayHANSONwillbeplayingthreeshowsandit'llbeallHANSONfansKBYEEEE.
Me: .......whatever.

The thing that annoys me most about Moves Like Jagger isn't the production or the crappy lyrics or the musical mcdonald'sness of it all. It's the fact that Adam Levine can actually sing and he's pretty good at it. It's like watching a Ph.D student quit the university and get a job at a gas station for easy access to things he can huff.

My wife is a huge Hanson fan as well. I can't say I have it as bad as you though, since she's only made me go to one concert. I will admit, after seeing them live, I pretty much dropped every preconceived notion I had about the band. They're nothing spectacular, but I've seen far worse live shows in my time.

I know I said this in a previous Hanson thread about a year ago, but I will reiterate it here. All those 13 year old girls that loved them in the 90's are in their mid to late 20's now. They go watch Hanson with their other girlfriends, get wasted and swoon over their childhood crush up on stage. There were so many unbelievably hot girls at the show I went to with my wife. I was one of the handful of guys there, and I'd say pretty much every other dude was with a girl too. So, if you're single, find out when Hanson is playing in your town, and get your ass there. You will literally have hundreds of girls, with little to no competition from other guys trying to pick them up!

That would be amusing if it wasn't for the fact that, y'know, they're all around 30 years old now. Also, it's "paedophile". "Pedophile" sounds like some sort of Victorian bicycle enthusiast.
