No comments yet?

I've read very little King; his attention to detail tends to make my brain itch. But that's a pretty demented list.

Stephen King, what the fark is wrong with you, man? What makes you think up this shiat?

Meh.
Some of Clive Barker's early work makes SK sex scenes look down right puritanical.

Almost every one of his books has some kind of demented sex scene in it. You just learn to expect it

Wasn't in the original release. A lot of The Kid was left out. Need to read the author's version.

Gerald's Game was just one long sex scene gone really really bad.

Recently read The Stand for the first time, thought it was great but there were definitely some weird bits.

I read "It" when I was about the same age as the kids the article refers to, scared the hell outta me but I think the whole "they're having sex" bit was over my head as a 9 or 10 year old, I remembering thinking "am I just misunderstanding this?"

I really loved It but I never forgave him for the terrible ending, including the preteen orgy.

I seem to recall a scene in a Steven King book where an FBI agent gets his jollies by dressing up in ladies' underwears and masturbating to the sound of a garbage disposal, but ends up dying when he sticks his hand in it because he can't stop himself - it's too sexy to resist.

Am I making that up? I vaguely remember thinking, "Wow, that's going to be a story when someone finds him, dead in the kitchen with a stumpy arm, wearing knickers and garters and heels."

Firestarter, maybe? To teh Googles!

That was tame and expected compared to some of the other crap.

I don't know of any sane person that would want to see Stephen King in a sex scene.

I have read The Stand (both versions) multiple times, and I don't remember that either. Of course, I have read every A Song of Ice and Fire book at least twice, I don't remember half of the rape or explicit sex scenes that everyone always talks about. Not sure what that says about me.

Even the Marvel Comic version of The Stand only implied the scene (well, they imply he gets raped in some way), they skip it completely as well.

Photo taken at Marc Leder sex party:
Romney "47 Percent" Fundraiser Host: Hedge Fund Manager Who Likes Sex Parties
-
It was as if the Playboy Mansion met the East EBond at a wild party at private-equity titan Marc Leder's Bridgehampton estate, where guests cavorted nude in the pool and performed sex acts, scantily dressed Russians danced on platforms and men twirled lit torches to a booming techno beat. The divorced Sun Capital Partners honcho rented a sprawling beachfront mansion on Surf Side Road for $500,000 for the month of July. Leder's weekly Friday and Saturday night parties have become the talk of the Hamptons-and he ended them in style last weekend with his wildest bash yet. Russell Simmons and ex-wife Kimora Lee attended a more subdued party thrown by Leder-who's an event chair for Simmons' Art For Life charity-on July 29 together. But the revelry hit a frenzied point the next day before midnight when a male guest described as a "chubby white meathead" and a "tanned" female guest stripped and hopped into the pool naked.

It absolutely happens. I'm not at home or I'd look it up in my copy and give you page numbers - it's supremely disturbing but also sort of makes sense in the context of the story.

The only King book I have ever read was "On Writing".

There is a very disturbing scene in which he places his flacid penis against the paper in his typewriter and strikes the "R" key over and over and over.

So all horror writers have a fascination w/ little kids? I'm surprised only 2 notes of this in that list.

It was an early book, not sure of the title but two extremely minor-character young brothers experienced rape by their father when their mother was away for a week (I'll never look at lard the same way again).

The long-buried hatred these boys have surface when they are compelled to do some evil against him. Maybe 'Salem's Lot? Needful Things?

Look, if you're gonna read a horror story, you be expecting to read horrible things.......

As for the "little kids" remark, many of SKs characters tend to be or have been children. Does it not make thing more horrible when they happen to children? Does it not provide backstory in his books?

Isn't there some part of The Stand where these guys drive around kidnapping women and imprison them in their truck as drugged, brutalized sex slaves? I expect they glossed that over in the comic too.

ITT: SK is not at all interested in our squeamish reservations about the less pleasant side of human nature.
