Romney gets caught with that hidden camera thing and his ridiculous quote about 47% of Americans goes viral, so Townhall runs an "Obama makes bad quotes" columns in response. What a bankrupt ideology

All I want to know after that is...

So what's Rmoney's FARK handle?

You have to give the RWNM credit. The second they realize their stooge has stepped in it, they swing into false equivalency mode within a news cycle.

omnibus_necanda_sunt: Wait a tic. I'll grab the quotes so they don't get any traffic.

Nice... Much appreciated. I had already clicked without seeing the 'Townhall' part(I clicked from the menu at the bottom of the page I was on), but just the thought of doing this gives me hope for my fellow man...

SkinnyHead: Dr Dreidel: Doesn't sound like he's bragging about anything. Sounds like Obama is telling us about the anger, resentment, sense of not-belonging, and general coming-of-age angst common among the 18-to-21 set.

Destroying property to get back at "bourgeois society" because you're full of anger, resentment, and sense of not-belonging sounds more like an antisocial personality disorder than just general coming-of-age angst.

Color me surprised. SkinnyHead has never, apparently, met anyone who's actually been to college.

Your attachment to carpeting in dorm hallways sounds like an antisocial personality disorder.

Assaulting gay kids and cutting off their hair shows that someone is a psychopath willing to use physical means to cause harm to people who have done nothing to you. As president, Romney would use his power to physically attack anyone who disagrees with him, or anyone he just does not like, which appears to be 47% of the country. He cannot be trusted as president.

"Pay no attention to the garbage falling from our guy's mouth - here: have some random quotes from Obama we call obnoxious because we think he's cocky - like the rest of his kind."

2012-09-18 11:56:32 AM

Cuchulane: 1. "There are 47 percent of the people who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it."
2. "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
3. "Middle income is between $200,000 and $250,000 a year."
4. "I'm not familiar, precisely, with exactly what I said, but I stand by what I said, whatever it was."
5. "PETA is not happy that my dog likes fresh air."
6. "We should double Guantanamo!"
7. "I'm happy to learn that after I speak you're going to hear from Ann Coulter. That's a good thing. I think it's important to get the views of moderates."

Oh, wait.. not Romney?

I don't follow NASCAR as closely as some of the most ardent fans, but I have some great friends who are NASCAR team owners.

I like those fancy raincoats you bought, really sprung for the big bucks.

'I hope people understand this, your friends who like Obamacare, you remind them of this, if they want more stuff from government tell them to go vote for the other guy - more free stuff. But don't forget nothing is really free.

Don't try to stop the foreclosure process. Let it run its course and hit the bottom.

I like being able to fire people who provide services to me.

I should tell my story. I'm also unemployed.

An apology for America's values is never the right course. ... The statement that came from the administration was -- was a statement which is akin to apology and I think was a -- a severe miscalculation.

5 minutes later . . .
And the idea of using something that some people consider sacred and then parading that out in a negative way is simply inappropriate and wrong. And I wish people wouldn't do it.

'My sons are all adults and they've made decisions about their careers and they've chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard. One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president

Obama doesn't want to get back at society. He has the pinikle of a school boys dream job.

That's a cute nom de plume Skinny your breatheren were here this weekend

Bocasio: Romney pretty much said "I cant reach those people, I'm not going to try"

And as far as election strategy goes, it would be a waste of his time and money to do so. You know, these guys yammer incessantly. In fact, that's pretty much the job description of a politician: Yak yak yak. Every day. Before breakfast, during breakfast, at night, on Mondays, on Halloween, and whether it's raining or sunny. Yak yak yak. The amazing thing is how infrequently they say stupid things, but that's because they're good at it, like ancient bards who would recite epic poems from memory with few mistakes, or like an Apache scout who knew precisely how to navigate on foot through rugged terrain for hundreds of miles and never get lost. They have a certain sort of brain, which is part of the package: Wildly ambitious, cut-throat, with encyclopedic memories of incredibly dull legalese, talking points on myriad subjects, and policy details, and are able on command, almost like a robot, to disgorge snippets or long sections of this immense hoard of mental garbage. Yak yak yak. And then, if they make a tiny mistake or mis-speak or - God Forbid - be candid for a fleeting moment, there are legions of prissy nit-pickers with computers ready to pounce upon the error and vomit forth whole libraries of "fact-checking" and criticisms to clog up the airwaves and intar-tubes (most of which will be quickly forgotten in the dizzying continuum of our fast-paced "news cycle."

And so Willard candidly admits he doesn't give a sh*t about people who will never vote for him, and Barry candidly admits he considers being saddled with a child to be a form of punishment, and everyone gets a chapped ass. And so the beat goes on: Yak yak yak.

Then we have about 6 people in this country who are fit to lead. Either that, or you understand that you live in a world where basically everyone has "an antisocial personality disorder".

I went to UMD, where 5 straight Duke basketball games - win or lose - resulted in hundred-thousand-dollar-plus riot damages. After winning the ACC tourney in...2006?, the cops sent out an APC and a full sidewalk-to-sidewalk contingent of riot cops, complete with a jackass riding a horse.

Look around. That's not atypical college student behavior. That age, 18-21, is just about the cognitive time that humans start to realize that the world is far larger than they are, and we begin realizing the consequences of our actions beyond the immediate "I hope no one saw that".

Obama himself describes it as his coming-of-age angst, tempered with a bit of racial resentment. Almost like it's hard out there for a biracial kid who grew up partially on another continent to reconcile the attitudes society thinks he should have with the attitudes he actually has, and all brewing in a shiatpot of hormones and his first taste of majority-age freedom. In a time where railing against the bourgeoisie (specifically, the white man) and social justice were hot-button topics.

In 10 years, we may have Congressman Occupy (R-ID*), and we would do well to remember that shocks to the system in the form of (semi-)organized nationwide protests brought terms like "the 1%" and "wage gap" into common parlance, and they also shiat on cop cars. It was a messy time that opened a pretty good age of reflection on how we structure our financial system (assuming we actually get there between now and 2022).

* that's sarcasm. They'd clearly be Texan Libertarians.

So yeah. I'm playing the bbbbuuuttt Bush card but it is done for a reason. The quotes cherry picked by John Boy are mere snaffu's. Most have some form of truth to them but many were said in 2008 before the election. He won that.
Bush on the other hand will be known for his lack of leadership skills and appointing the wrong people who as a whole farked this country.

pontechango: Of course, with the current Republican agenda, candidness means open class warfare.

Well, yes and no. I happen to not restrict myself to a narrow demographic slice - I wander about a little bit and have family, friends and acquaintances across the so-called spectrum. It's not class warfare when right-leaning people say things like this, because even poor or middle-class right-leaning people tend to agree with Romney's POV in this regard (whether their stance represents hypocrisy or cognitive dissonance is another discussion, and whether Romney actually disdains the poor or was simply discussing campaign strategy here). Even if they choose to ignore or not recognize their own "dependence" upon government programs, they take pride in working hard for a living and possess a rugged individualist ideology, so to speak. It's the very idea of pervasive government that deeply bothers them. Call it distrust, but it isn't class-based necessarily. And I must point out that the other party stokes class divisions too, with its constant harping about the rich not paying their fair share and all of that stuff, as if making the rich pay more taxes would make any significant difference in the country's fiscal condition, which it would not.

Left out a few.

"energy prices will necessarily skyrocket"

I got nothing against college fun. But not everyone who goes to college runs around laughing and having fun. Some want to destroy things because they're full of anger and resentment. You know, the type that would vandalize the dormitory because they feel alienated by "bourgeois society." I got no use for those types.

2012-09-18 12:36:04 PM

SkinnyHead: When we ground out our cigarettes in the hallway carpet or set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake, we were resisting bourgeois society's stifling conventions. We weren't indifferent or careless or insecure. We were alienated.

The part where he and his Marxist buddies grind their cigarettes into the dorm hallway carpet because they felt alienated by "bourgeois society" is the most obnoxious. And the most telling.

Romney: 47% of people pay no taxes and we won't get their vote because they feel entitled to everything.

More obnoxious than that Romney quote or more obnoxious than the inability for your brain to receive enough oxygen?

But we're talking about ROMNEY man. What are we talking about? Romney? We're talking about Romney, man. (laughter from the media crowd) ... When you come to the Oval Office, and you see me lead, you see me lead don't you? You've seen me give everything I've got, right? But we're talking about Romney right now. We talking about Ro-"

Reporter: "But it's an issue that your team continues to raise?"

Obama: "Man look, I hear you... it's funny to me too, I mean it's strange... it's strange to me too, but we're talking about Romney man, we're not even talking about the presidency... the actual presidency, when it matters... We're talking about Romney..."

Reporter: "Is it possible that if you campaigned, you would make your party better?"

Obama: "How the hell can I make my party better by campaigning?"

Unabridged. And now my new favorite depiction of Obama.

Reporter: "After this campaign, what do you think about the GOP?"

Obama: "You wanna crown them? Then CROWN THEIR ASSES! They are who we thought they were. And we let em off the hook!"

I'll do the same thing I do whenever Downs Syndrome McBlooger gets a greenlight here. I copied ones that don't to me sound very obnoxious. Someone explain to me what si so bad about these:

20) "Junkie. Pothead. That's where I'd been headed: the final, fatal role of the young would-be black man. Except the highs hadn't been about that, me trying to prove what a down brother I was. Not by then, anyway. I got high for just the opposite effect, something that could push questions of who I was out of my mind, something that could flatten out the landscape of my heart, blur the edges of my memory. I had discovered that it didn't make any difference whether you smoked reefer in the white classmate's sparkling new van, or in the dorm room of some brother you'd met down at the gym, or on the beach with a couple of Hawaiian kids who had dropped out of school and now spent most of their time looking for an excuse to brawl. ...You might just be bored, or alone. Everybody was welcome into the club of disaffection." -- Barack Obama

19) "...I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment -- this was the time -- when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals." -- Barack Obama

18) "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK. That's not leadership. That's not going to happen." -- Barack Obama

16) "It's very rare that I come to an event where I'm like the fifth- or sixth-most interesting person." -- Barack Obama

14) "But I don't want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don't mind cleaning up after them, but don't do a lot of talking." -- Barack Obama

13) "If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, 'We're gonna punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,' if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it's gonna be harder and that's why I think it's so important that people focus on voting on November 2." -- Barack Obama

12) "It was usually an effective tactic, another one of those tricks I had learned: (White) People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied, they were relieved -- such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn't seem angry all the time." -- Barack Obama

11) "The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person..." -- Barack Obama

9) "I don't believe it is possible to transcend race in this country. Race is a factor in this society. The legacy of Jim Crow and slavery has not gone away. It is not an accident that African-Americans experience high crime rates, are poor, and have less wealth. It is a direct result of our racial history." -- Barack Obama

7) "That's just how white folks will do you. It wasn't merely the cruelty involved; I was learning that black people could be mean and then some. It was a particular brand of arrogance, an obtuseness in otherwise sane people that brought forth our bitter laughter. It was as if whites didn't know that they were being cruel in the first place. Or at least thought you deserving of their scorn." -- Barack Obama

5) "You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a (flag) pin. Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for, I think, true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest..." -- Barack Obama

4) "If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business - you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." -- Barack Obama

3) "I can no more disown (Jeremiah Wright) than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother - a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe." -- Barack Obama

2) "...I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby." -- Barack Obama

1) "You got into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." -- Barack Obama

cchris_39: "I happen to be a proponent of single-payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. That is what I would like to see."

Nothing says obnoxious like being for health care.

mrshowrules: 25, 16 & 15 were obnoxious. The rest of the list is just stupid.

16 is obnoxious, but I mean, the guy is President. He gets to hear and decide all kinds of fascinating things. Hhe probably IS more interesting than most of the people he meets, even if it is a dick move to say so.

canyoneer: No, you're a Marxist pedophile

Listen, this line is getting a bit old. Those who are afraid of pedophiles just need to grow up already.

Dr Dreidel: SkinnyHead: When we ground out our cigarettes in the hallway carpet or set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake, we were resisting bourgeois society's stifling conventions. We weren't indifferent or careless or insecure. We were alienated.

The part where he and his Marxist buddies grind their cigarettes into the dorm hallway carpet because they felt alienated by "bourgeois society" is the most obnoxious. And the most telling.

Because everyone in college is an enlightened member of society, fully mature and respectful of their peers and at peace with their station in life.

Barack Obama was the first and only pretentious college student ever. EVER!

timujin: mrshowrules: 25, 16 & 15 were obnoxious. The rest of the list is just stupid.

This. How dare he eloquently describe his feelings of alienation growing up mixed race and as a disaffected youth.

This2. Also, the most obnoxious thing about 25 for me was the way that the RW media cynically took Obama's obvious attempt at self deprecating humor and tried to pretend that Obama was being deliberately offensive to the mentally challenged.

This goes double for "You didn't build that".

The centerpiece of Romney's campaign is an out and out lie and John Candy's retarded love-child here actually includes it in his list of obnoxious Obama quotes?

Wow. THAT shiat is seriously obnoxious.

/TY to the kind Farker who posted the list so I didn't have to give those dicks any clicks.

They forgot the next paragraph:

"Now, these are in some communities. You know, I think what you'll find is that people of every background-there are going to be a mix of people. You can go in the toughest neighborhood, you know, working-class lunch-pail folks, and you'll find Obama enthusiasts. And you can go into places where you'd think that I'd be very strong, and people will just be skeptical. The important thing is that you show up and you're doing what you're doing."

canyoneer: Epoch_Zero: No, you're a Republican, and yes, your party holds as a core value that the poor are unworthy, lazy and to be scorned.

No, you're a Marxist pedophile, and your party holds as a core value that all possessions must be seized from the Glorious Pipples and that their children should be abused by the Righteous Party Cadres.

While individual Republicans might not feel the way Epoch_Zero describes, the overall sentiment expressed by the leaders of the party are consistent with his statement.

Lsherm: Fark Dependents

You mean all the conservatives living off welfare, disability, social security, or pensions?

2012-09-18 12:54:00 PM

canyoneer: It's the very idea of pervasive government that deeply bothers them.

No, it's the very idea of spending on social programs that benefit the disabled, the poor, the elderly, military veterans, etc. that deeply bothers them. Not to mention any kind of regulations that might internalize the economic externalities that multinational corporations exploit, e.g. cheap labor and environmental regulatory arbitrage.

They have demonstrated no problem whatsoever in blindly supporting their government in areas (Iraq War, hint, hint).

SkinnyHead: Destroying property to get back at "bourgeois society" because you're full of anger, resentment, and sense of not-belonging sounds more like an antisocial personality disorder than just general coming-of-age angst.

That sounds like a Rand followers wet dream

SkinnyHead: It's more likely that he would want to burn holes in our "bourgeois" economy the same way that he burned holes in his dorm hallway carpet to get back at "bourgeois society."

When you say more likely, do you mean in your imagination? Because you're pretty desperate here.

But hey at least Obama didn't impersonate a police officer and pull people over using his daddies political power

MinkeyMan: You must have really hated college. All those people running around, laughing, experimenting with their new found freedom. How you must have loathed them all.

I highly doubt any of the conservative trolls ever spent a day in a college classroom.

Yeah. Kids in college do dumbs stuff. I'll alert the local media, you inform the clergy.

Why is he bragging about it? And it wasn't just dumb, it was malicious to put cigarette burns in the carpet just to get back at "bourgeois society." Makes people wonder whether he still wants to destroy things to get back at "bourgeois society."

B. Hussein Obama is systematically DESTROYING the United States and converting it to a post apocalyptic Shari'a/Stalinist wasteland and you're worried about CIGARETTE BURNS ON DORM HALL CARPET????

Um, time to WAKE UP, man.
