I just realized that there are probably a fair number of movies where the intrepid reporter breaks into somebody's house/apt looking for information for their story.

In those movies, the reporter is the good guy.

He's just a straight-up farking Bond villain. He's the head of a huge criminal organisation which happens to publish newspapers. Death is the only way he can avoid jail.

Consider it a subtle type of journalism. Exploring how much the Rich and Connected, as well as large corporations, can get away with before someone stops them.
