If there's one thing I've learned from a democratic leader, it's that you never inhale.

Well, I guess offshoring flag production (along with just about everything else) to China actually does has some pluses.

FTFA: He said, "If the US claims to be a civilised nation, why does it stoop to insult other religions and civilisations?"

I tell you what, once your civilization moves up a few centuries to finally hit the edge of enlightenment, you'll start to figure it out then. At this time, you seem to understand absolutely nothing of the concepts of freedom of speech and freedom of religion and are hanging around somewhere in the "burn the witch" era of peasantry.

This is like a North Korean citizen yelling at us for restricting freedoms here.

Reminds me of a picture set on here one time, of photographs in the '70s. The only one that still sticks with me is a picture of a plant that was burning car batteries. Outside of Houston, which I guess explains a lot.

FTFA: He said the director, the producer and all those involved in the production and release of the movie must be hanged publicly.

Oh, is that all they want? If we do that will they promise no more protests?

A small protest rally against the film was also taken out by a group of Christian from Model Colony, Gulberg. The rally concluded at Seven Up Chowk having marched through Mecca Colony.

I'd up chowk after watching that rally, too.

brianbankerus: If there's one thing I've learned from a democratic leader, it's that you never inhale.

First thing I thought of when I read the headline was SNL's 1992 presidential debate:

Sam Donaldson: But isn't it true that during one of the peace demonstrations you burned an American flag in Red Square?

Bill Clinton: I tried to burn an American flag once. I didn't like it. It gave off toxic fumes, so I didn't inhale.

2012-09-17 10:17:21 PM
This gives me a great Kickstarter idea for safe-to-burn flags. Instead of toxic fumes they will release various scents from vanilla to cinnamon. Or perhaps odors matching the nations clichés: Old Glory burning can smell like a Big Mac, The Aussy flag like BBQ shrimp and the UK flag like fish'n'chips.

Anyone want to invest $10K in me?

Americans didn't give one rat's shriveled ass about Islam before 9/11. Do you think it within the realm of possibility that if one's first awareness of Islam were to have arisen on that day, their perceptions might be... colored, shall we say?

Egypt had a women's rights revolution at the same point in history ours did. Britain crushed it.

It's not anti-American if it's true.

FTFA: Hafiz Saeed alleged that the film, Innocence of Muslims, had been produced with the backing of US establishment. He said the director, the producer and all those involved in the production and release of the movie must be hanged publicly. "The US must make a law against blasphemy - or we will not let the US consulates in Pakistan function," he said.

Its worth pointing out that multiple media sources worldwide are claiming a US government link to the film because the filmmaker may have been involved turning in other people during his felony trial. Also, in areas of the world that have only state-controlled video media, they might find it hard to believe that the all-powerful US government can't shut down a single stupid film. Remember, we're dealing with people who know as little about Americans as Americans know about them. And that is a damn scary thought.

Witnesses said he had complained of feeling unwell from the smoke from US flags burnt at the rally.

Genius: US flags with poisonous materials that only activate when the material is burned.

It might be helpful to remind readers that Pakistan has been a nation since the late 1940's and the infamous partitioning. After this much time as a nation the United States was getting ready to fight the Civil War. The Federal government was at the time about as weak in dealing with rural areas of the U.S. as Pakistan's government is with theirs. I'm just saying that context is helpful here.

Right. Sure. Pakistan as a nation-state, if one could really call it that, is relatively new. However, civilization there has existed for thousands of years, so they've had more than enough time to build up something a little more rational, a little more civilized, and a little less dominated by uneducated, peasant-think. It's now the 21st Century in the Information Age with more information gained every decade than was available to all of humanity for thousands of years. That same information is available to Pakistan as well (what part its government [or warlords/tribal leaders in those other parts of the "nation-state"] don't censor). And the other side of that partition, India, while not exactly having the highest standard of living still for hundreds of millions of their people, seems to be a hell of a lot better than Pakistan. Sure, they have their Hindu nationalist and fundamentalist Muslims too, but India isn't exactly out causing problems for the rest of the world or even for its own people anything like Pakistan is doing. India is at least trying to embrace the Information Age.

It's not racist.

Being a certain color means jack and or shiat to someone's intrinsic woth.

Burning my flag on the other hand... that means you're a bigot and an enemy of nature and peace. Bu-bye.

You Farkers are conveniently overlooking one thing:

The man who fingered Osama Bin Laden was a Pakistani doctor, who has since been arrested for treason, tortured and held without trial. He was told at the time: "Amerika is our greatest enemy, anyone who helps them is a traitor."

Also, you Farkers ought to know: Egypt is sucking us off to the tune of $2 billion a year in exchange for not going to war against Israel. Since it is a foregone conclusion they would get their asses kicked, I would say cancel the money and let them lose the war.

\\\ But of course I am just a logical man.

It's okay, I'll handle this:

Attention Fruit Batz,
I wish to apologize, for all the people of America, both living and dead, for the film. It was a bad film and we are really, really sorry. Yes, all of us. Since you can believe an entire nation of 300 million people ALL got together and made a film, I guess you can believe that we ALL got together for this here apology.

Sorry, rly, rly sorry
We Mean It

It seems to me MMM was referring specifically to the individuals burning the flags you are the one painting with the wide brush. Not every comment is racist because the comment is made about someone of a different race.
