Hello and welcome to nine years ago.

Fox News is the materialization of Nixon's dream of having a news organization that is idealogically in
step with the Republican party: Roger Ailes was a media consultant for Nixon and took Nixon's lament
to heart years later.

One can only imagine how Fox would have covered the Watergate affair....

News item: Administration asks Youtube to remove controversial film on Islam

The hilarious thing is that the same people who are just wild about this guy's right to make a film to incite violence quickly change their tune if you suggest to them that the people behind it might be Muslims trying to incite violence. Then they want whoever is responsible thrown into a pit of snakes with no trial.

Obama's and Nixon's policies are actually quite close ideologically except Nixon was a bit farther left. Where the two diverge is that Obama isn't a paranoid racist with a chip on his shoulder.

Huh. Before I noticed the Tardhall tag, I thought that this was going to be about the Romney/Ryan bullshiat-a-thon and how they've been getting away with lies that Kim Jong-Il's corpse would call unrealistic.

I didn't read it but I'm pretty sure I can summarize it: Obama bad and lame stream media is handing him the election.

2012-09-17 10:11:59 AM
We don't have a press that is necessarily on Obama's side. We have a press that is just plain lazy, copying others' stories (or worse, blogs) without so much as a cursory fact-check. Couple that with the latest trend in "report on both side's of the issue and let the reader decide" and you have "journalists" who are completely useless. In many cases, both sides do not warrant equal attention and merit.

2012-09-17 10:12:38 AM
So a piece - published in the press, and read by potato viewers (POTATO, I say!) - says the press is too forgiving to Obama?

WHAT ARE YOU HIDING, TOWNHALL?!?

So cute and ignorant how the fark left still believes the press isn't in the bag for Obama. Last week they pushed the Obama campaign meme of Romney for being evil on criticizing the Cairo memo and then kept pushing the film as the reason for even Libya even though al Qaeda said it was a response to drive strikes and was obviously pre meditated. Only CNN finally picked up the fact that there was advance notice of Libya. But no, have to push the blame solely on an unwatched movie, that way Obama gets no blame for foreign policy.

Isn't it crazy how Fox News, the conservative news(optional) network, is always touting how many people watch its programming every night, and it's the juggernaut King Shiat of Fark Mountain, and yet they can't seem to ever be dignified as the mainstream media? How is it, again, that Harper's Bazaar or Mother Jones have that much pull when Fox News is beating test patterns, farm reports, and "Mama's Family" reruns on a consistent basis?

The funny/sad/stupid thing is that Obama is to the Right of Nixon on pretty much everything.

I'm gonna guess he meant "drone strike"?

He does have a point that the press has been lame and lazy for just sticking with the "they did it because of this video" without any analysis or further thought to it.

I haven't even heard one mainstream source mention the obvious dubbing of every reference to Mohammed or Islam and what that may mean.

Obama is to the right of Nixon anyway.

But at the time that Romney made his statemen, no one knew about al qaeda's involvement. Or about any "advance notice".

I don't want a president in charge of my country who thinks it's OK make press statements, potentially putting more American lives at risk, before he knows WTF is going on.

And by the way I don't think he's evil. Just kinda stupid.

The Post was pretty much a second rate, locally focussed paper in 1972, and the NYT didn't exactly push the story either.

I heard that much of the dialogue was dubbed in afterward by the producer (or whomever). Would explain why so many in the cast have come out saying they had no idea what the end result would be.
