Aren't there like 5 dudes on the Colts this year that were there last year? I don't know too many guys who would lose their jobs willingly so their employer could do better after they got fired.

Vikings lost that game in the third quarter.

We had them punting from their own endzone... roughing the kicker.

Then what should have been a punt 4 plays later doesn;t have to happen because Jared "I should shut the fark up about the replacement refs" Allen desides to hit Luck out of bounds. They kick a FG and that ends up being the difference in the game.

Vikings simply killed themselves. JUST KILLED THEMSELVES this week.

/3 dropped INTs didn;t help either

He looks good. So does Griffin. With the way the rules are in the NFL now, and the better coaching they're getting in college, the days of sitting your #1 overall pick for a year to learn (from the guy you're trying to replace no less) are over.

Seems like any QB with decent skills can toss for 300 yards, rookie or no. If your QB isn't posting numbers close to these rookies you should be concerned (KC, Jax). Hell even Weinke looked pretty good yesterday for the Browns.

/Weeden? Whatever, same guy, future journeyman career backup.

So did Blaine Gabbert(sp?) last week.

So will Alex Smith this week.

Any ideas on what those 3 have in common?

Ya!

It's been awhile since I've seen a Colts victory in Indianapolis. I figured there was no way I was going to miss Luck's Home Opener, so I scalped a cheap seat and saw him take the 'W'.

In defense of the 2011 Colts, Luck isn't purposely trying to throw the season for a chance to get a new quarterback with the number one pick.
/Goodell should have taken the pick away

Yes, I have video AND audio of a conversation between Irsay and every member of the Colts organization discussing throwing the season. I took the video from the sidelines of a New England Paaaa whoaaaaa...Almost walked right into that one. Nice try, pal.

If you would, please explain how butthurt works in this situation. Pats haven't been puilling for the #1 pick since, what? 1993?

Were the Patriots setup around one player, and after losing that player, they chose Curtis Painter to use as their backup? No.

The 2011 Colts were weak as hell. From the head coach to the quarterback. But it's okay ... the Colts were cleansed.
It's really gonna chap your ass when they take the AFC South this year, isn't it?

Uh, no not really.

Alex Smith is good (as a game manager type). Gabbert is not good. The jury is still out on Luck but he's looked pretty good the first two games.

So yeah, IDK what they have in common. They're all better than Ponder? Is that it?

I'm not joking. If the Colts finish with a winning record it will be proof positive that they threw the season. Suddenly having one rookie QB does not take your team legitimately from 1-15 to 10-6.

And the players would not have had to have been on board for the owners to throw the season. A simple directive to the coaches to neglect sensible game planning would easily make any NFL team lose to any other team.

Don't hide behind pedantics. Of course no one has material evidence, but it's common sense and you know it. You're just a Colts fan trying to be difficult.

Tommy Moo: If the Colts finish with a winning record it will be proof positive that they threw the season.

Peyton Manning, by himself, was worth 4-7 wins in that offense relative to his backups. And yes, I'm saying that the Colts would have struggled to break .500, even WITH Manning in that offense.

This year the Colts have tossed away some dead weight and age. RANDOM luck (not Luck) could have landed them a win or three that they may not have had with last year's team. Take a team with a starting QB who would struggle to be the EMERGENCY quarterback on some teams, and replace him with a good rookie (so, imagine a QB in the 15-25 range in NFL ranking), and you've added a couple wins. If he's BETTER than advertised, or other additions to the team are better than advertised, it's not unthinkable to see the Colts go 8-8.

2012-09-17 06:00:25 PM
And I'm not saying they will, I'm just saying it's not much of a surprise to assume that the Colts would have a better record this year than last year, Luck or no.

1. You obviously have not had the pleasure of experiencing just how monumentally bad Curtis Painter is.

2. Alot more changed in the Colts' roster this offseason than just drafting Luck.

The Colts staff handcuffed the offense in the second half. Three runs and a punt was their entire plan. When they took the training wheels off, Luck drove down the field and set up the game winning kick. Plus the tipped pass touchdown was asinine.

I know they showed the replay but whenever Peyton is down, I will never forget that Tampa Bay game. I never count Peyton out. I know they lost the game but even if there's 2 minutes left and he's down by 21, I take nothing for granted.

I am not saying Luck is bad, i am saying we made Blaine Gabbert look serviceable. THAT'S how bad our D is. Looking good against us is not a baromater for talent.

Peyton thre 3 INTs to a team capable of catching them.
Luck happened to throw 3 to a team that isn't.

Call it a draw and say that at the very least you got the young promising QB out of the deal instead of the old declining one.

The correct answer is: The Vikings' "defense," especially their secondary. Just like Matt Ryan and Ryan Fitzpatrick looked like beasts against the Chiefs' "defense," and RGIII and Cam Newton tore up the Saints' "defense."
