I really want them to keep the commentating duo of Cole and JBL. They were fantastic last night.

Pfft

Those two could never hold water to the team of Lawler/JR. People who call Monsoon and Ventura the greatest commentator team are full of shi.

Not too obscure, one of the headliners of the "Bad Girl" comics back in the mid-90s. (Also included Vampirella and Lady Death as the main trio of characters)

You wanna take this outside?

Riddle me this, Batman, who was funnier? Who was more entertaining?

shiat, Heyman/JR (when Lawler took his ball and went home when they fired his wife) was a better team than Monsoon and Heenan. I am sorry, but just because Monsoon is a wrestling legend does not give him a free pass for his horrible commentating skills.

Always kind of liked Vince/savage. Not the greatest, but good nonetheless.

Yes, but Harris comics brought Vampirella back in the 90s, and she was a cornerstone of '90s bad girl comics.

Maybe in a historical sense, but then we'd have to say Angela was too- and she didnt even have a series. Vampirella was outsold by Razor on her own label by 95. The big 3 in sales were Witchblade, Lady Death, and shiathough all their production schedules blew. At least Vampy came out somewhat monthly.

I was going to say that I remember the original Shi series coming out on a fairly regular schedule, but then I looked at the publication dates for the series and realized you were right... it took 3 farking years for a 12 issue mini-series and a one shot special to be released.

Darkchylde was the most ridiculous. Asshole released 2 issues over a year and had like 12 con/wizard/DF "exclusive" variants to them. Meanwhile I had 8 solicited issues of the POS on order with no clue when they would arrive or what they would sell.

I await Bobby and the Gorilla's thoughts (as we all do).

And man, last night's PPV was pretty good, maybe not the best but having commentators talk up the matches and a decent crowd pushed the show along and made it better. I enjoyed myself watching. As for the Punk-Cena finish, as a way to keep the belt on Punk and try to make him more heel, I'm okay with it. I agree that I don't like that Cena no-sold the end and went all Irish with his celebration (i.e. completely fresh), but he did work strong during the match itself. I just wish once he'd celebrate like Punk did at MITB, happy for the win, but limping around like he got shot.

Randy Boreton update:
As covered last night, the cameras caught Randy Orton flipping off some fans during his match with Dolph Ziggler at Night of Champions. Several fan reports noted that during the match, Orton got into a pretty heated argument with some fans.

The argument continued after the match and both sides were said to be very animated. More than one fan reported that Orton told the fan that he would "kick his ass" after the show.

It must be the fans that were mocking him with the chants. FWC guy that was at the PPV, your city did NOC proud. Very good chanting throughout.

1) Angela did have her own (mini) series.
2) I should have been more specific. I was referring to that 93-94 span when vamp, death, and shi were tearing up the back issue resale market (but not so much the new sales)
3) Witchblade was a top cow that managed to hold on during the comic book crash. She wasn't part of the big 3 "bad girl" movement.

There are actually other people out there who dislike Randy Orton? I thought I was the only one. I am sorry but the psychotic gimmick doesnt really work on him. I think he should return to his Chip on the shoulder gimmick.

I just saw him wrestle on a house show that came up here on Saturday. WWE basically gave away the results by making every title holder defend their championship (aint no way in hell WWE would ever drop a title at a house show, especially one day from the PPV). Anyways, Orton was really over, especially with the ladies. I took my sister to the show, and she had no idea who he was, but after the show she couldnt stop talking about how hot he was.

/Same house show, Cody Rhodes drew impressive heat. He had the biggest heel reaction of the night IMO. It could have been that way because it was an opening match, but whatever

Best commentary for me has got to be JR/Heyman, especially at Wrestlemania 17. JR/King is close second. Vintage Cole (before he moved to RAW) with any of the partners he worked with is probably third.

From SK's Blog of Doom, talking about potential dream matches for WM30 from Cowboys Stadium -

One guy: "I think a better way to go is to turn Austin heel. They can play up how he beat up Debra, walked out on the company, is a raging violent drunk, supports cancer, gives money to terrorist groups, wasn't really born in Texas and is ashamed he's believed to be a Texan....then have him face Cena. Cena can wear a cowboy hat and come to the ring on a horse with the Dallas Cowboys in his corner."

Another guy in response: "You forgot the part where they'd announce that Austin was really a life-long vegan and preferred French wine over beer, while Cena has a Texas steak and Lonestar beer every night for dinner."

Sadly, this sarcastic exchange has the definite ring of truth, lol.

OK so let's catch me up to speed here for a minute. Lawler has his heart attack last Monday during RAW. Cole goes from heel commentator to straight PBP guy for the rest of the match, then later put on the Owen voice to convey the news, then goes silent rest of match except for updates. Cole earns plaudits and Internet buzz is that WWE should yank him from the heel role and move him to PBP full-time. So now it looks like they're going to do that, without outwardly acknowledging that that's what they're doing, or with any kind of storyline or setup to really transition him. JR comes in to do face color and JBL will do the heel color, at least for now, but they may do some mixing and matching to find the best pairing (or at least the one WWE likes). But they're not going to acknowledge the Cole switch, it's just gonna happen. Is that pretty much the sum of things?

Also, because I was away and missed Friday and Sunday, curious to know if they acknowledged Lawler's condition on Smackdown or NOC. Did they?

/gonna watch tonight
