Yes, I'm sure the Muslin world will give his words great weight

It's not the Lebanese who need to learn this lesson. It's the Israelis.

Yes. I'm sure Pope Nosferatu can calm the Muslim world with just a few words.

Carelessness while crazy Muslims are nearby is why there is a Pope-mobile.

God bless Pope Benedict XVI. And yes, many Muslims do embrace his words always have. It's just the recent islamofascist movements around the idle east that have radicalized true believers into a murderous force for their political gain. Sad, as the religion of Islam is directly derived from the Bible and the Torah, with a few modifications. So that past 500 years, the culture used to be pretty together. But post WWII...not so much.

Lost Thought 00: Yes, I'm sure the Muslin world will give his words great weight

Why shouldn't they? The Pontiffs of Rome have always shown them tolerance of their beliefs and respect for their national borders.

It's about time someone in the middle east with a funny hat cared about human life.

Feh. Can't say I'm overly enamored of Darth Pope. His position on contraceptives continues to perpetuate poverty, overpopulation and the spread of disease in parts of Southeast Asia and Africa.

It's a nice gesture, but this hardly makes up for doing that much harm.

So i didn't read the farking article, and i really don't like the pope or catholicism at all, but i'm failing to see the problem with advocating peace while at thethe same time protecting your person. So to review, pope = dick, catholic church = asshole, me = ignorant to the article, peace = good, personal protection = just fine.

Can someone help me out, am i missing something?

Of course if I was the Pope I'd want protection. Did you see what God let man do to his kid? After that, all bets are off.

This is FARK and all religion is bad. Some people are just venting their insecurities. Don't let it bug you.

What gets me about all these Muslim riots, is that it seem the Muslim religious leaders are okay with violence. No one condems the attacks except for non-Muslims

The crowd cheered and waved tiny Vatican and Lebanese flags

Vatican flags? Wake up, Islamist rage-boys - that's your cue!

Muslims condemn the attack. Not the fundamentalist side, sure, but not all of them are fine with it:

Libyan Prime Minister Mustafa Abushagur's office condemned the attack and extended condolences, saying: "While strongly condemning any attempt to abuse the person of Muhammad, or an insult to our holy places and prejudice against the faith, we reject and strongly condemn the use of force to terrorise innocent people and the killing of innocent people."
