Once again, the L.A.P.D. is asking Los Angelenos not to fire their guns at the visitor spacecraft.

AllUpInYa: Bludso's BBQ and Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken finds me in Compton, occasionally - never had a problem. Just show some respect, like everywhere else, have some common sense and don't be an *ss-hat.

I knew a Compton cop back before they disbanded the force which was before the mayor's wife got caught molesting all those boys but some how didn't have to register as a sex offender. He always said there was nothing worth dieing for or going to in Compton. I took him at his word.

The other Compton story was related to me by a coworker who grew up there and graduated from high school in Compton. She said there was a Christmas parade every year through Compton with a traditional grand marshal being played by Santa Claus until one year Santa got shot by someone in the crowd. That was the last year they had a white Santa Claus.

OscarTamerz: X-Illuminati: As a young, white male, I have walked almost a mile down Inglewood on the border of Compton and I didn't even get shot at once. I had to get to the In-N-Out burger.

Maybe I wouldn't do the same thing after dark...

I like In-N-Out too but I wouldn't go anywhere near Compton even for a free BJ..

Walker: And only 400 trees will have to be chopped down. It's not like LA is covered in trees either. But don't worry, they will plant baby trees to replace them, which you can get shade under if you are still around in 100-200 years. Odd that the space shuttles that were given to New York and DC didn't require even one tree to be chopped down. Hey L.A., maybe you should have put the shuttle somewhere easier it could get to. But that's just me, a sane person talking. I know we are rare these days.

This has been pointed out, but seriously man...just how slowly do you think most trees grow?

None of the trees being talked about require 100-200 years to mature. Plus, as long as the trees being cut down are being used for something that keeps them in their current state, it's a positive environmental event, since young trees sequester more carbon and produce more net o2. Plus, many of the older trees around LA have root systems that destroy streets and sidewalks. It's only in more recent decades that care has been taken to plant trees that do not destroy infrastructure. This type of removal is eventually necessary if it is one of those trees, and every time it happens people cry about it, despite necessity dictating it must happen.

Plus..it just FARKING TREES!

For at least part of the journey, the Endeavor will be towed by a Toyota Tundra.

Born and raised in Inglewood.

Don't be surprised if the pilot gets shuttle-jacked.
