optikeye: It's not one single thing, like salt or fat...it's processed fast food, empty calories, and huge portion sizes.The Japaneese diet is very high in sodium with soy sauce..but balanced with lots of fresh fish, grains, veggies, and smaller portions. They'd laugh at 1 tsp of soy sauce a day...and yet very low rates of obesity and high blood pressure.The French diet is high in fats, butter, and somewhat salt...but again smaller portions throughout the day.
strangeluck: Exactly, thank you! Portion control is a huge part of it, and when I do get fast food, I always get the small servings. Also, don't forget regular exercise!

Gdalescrboz: My kids are picky eaters, they refuse to eat if I make them something "organic." You just have to trick them into getting the happy meals with apples in them or KFC w/out the skin on the chicken
