Let me get this straight: Smirk Romney is specifically addressing Hispanic voters on the thorny issue of immigration reform by not providing specifics on how he intends to accomplish said reform. That about the size of it?

Yeah.....That will secure votes for him.

He's running for office, for Pete's sake.

Holy balls, how many lies can he fit into one paragraph without reversing the meta-lie of the paragraph itself?

Considering how Romney is campaigning to run the entire country, you'd think that he'd be able to at least run his campaign competently first. A campaign is much easier job than being the President. If you're failing at the campaign, then you probably don't deserve to be the president.

If his plan is anything but "NO MORE MESSICANS", he's lost the base.

Immigration is an issue that bothers me so much. People have no farking clue how it works. My girlfriend and I are an international couple and everyone thinks she can just live in the US no problem because she has a college degree. Two seconds later they'll be biatching about all the Indians stealing professional jobs. It's ridiculous.

Also, the amount of people that don't know México ≠ Spain is ridiculous.

The Evil That Lies In The Hearts Of Men: Romney did not get into the specifics

Well there's a surprise.

Its hilarious how the right never asks him for specifics on anything while at the same time demanding to know what Obama had for lunch 23 years ago on June 14th to prove that he is a real citizen.

It would be very hard to write a more concise statement than the above. I shudder when I think, even just a little bit, about the 40% who are just hard core for anything but the black guy: how can I even befriend a person whose side is just hateful. In reality, Obama's played it very much in the middle to appease the right. The number of crazies should (maybe) be around 25%, not 40 or even 47%! This is a real national problem. Thinking, in the end, of a State Department full of Romneyites scares the billy be jeavers outa me. But in the end the U.S. military runs the show on this mortal coil and Romney as CINC?

Marriage is more than a personally rewarding social custom. It is also critical for the well-being of a civilization. That is why it is so important to preserve traditional marriage - the joining together of one man and one woman. As president, Mitt will not only appoint an Attorney General who will defend the Defense of Marriage Act - a bipartisan law passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton - but he will also champion a Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman.

LarryDan43: The GOP pundits already ruined the hispanic vote for Romney when they lost their shiat over immigration amnesty.

The GOP lost the Hispanic vote during the discussions around the Arizona immigration laws. They had a chance to regain some credibility on a national level with the Dream Act but the GOP chose to shoot themselves in the foot instead. Obama slam dunked it over the top of the GOP and swung from the hoop when he said he wasn't going to pursue minors of illegal immigrants who have been in the country a long time. Romney's response to that announcement was pretty impotent (I think he said he was opposed to and in favor of the policy).

This is an issue where the GOP could target Obama since Obama has been deporting illegals pretty aggressively. Instead the GOP gets tarnished from the bad press of Obama's policy. That some good politicking there Lou.

2012-09-17 08:27:54 AM
As usual the Romney campaign has no clue of reality. And thus Romney himself.
Please continue on that track to success!

2012-09-17 08:28:08 AM
Right. Mitt Romney's going to solve the immigration problem. Something no one has ever been able to get close to before, and one that even the best that Republicans can come up with is amnesty.

And no details? Well I'm convinced. Mitt's the man for the job.

/dismissive jerking off motion.

2012-09-17 08:31:33 AM
I thought his plan was to turn America into such a smoldering shiat-hole that the "messicans would "self-deport" rather than want to live here.

He will soon walk that back.

After all, we have gone from self-deportation to "reforming immigration".

We may soon start caring about "the very poor".

/Yes. The debates were a source of amusement for me.

and his families Mexican roots,
but that would lead to questions
Why did the Romney family move to Mexico? =(practice polygamy)

Yeah, it just makes absolutely no sense to me. Hispanic voters tend to be pretty conservative socially and religiously, and you'd see a huge shift to the Republican party if they would stop acting like xenophobic morons. For example, propose a law that does something like the following:

Any industry determined to have a shortage of unskilled or low skilled labor (not need a college degree or more than 2 years experience), like our agriculture industry right now, can sponsor foreigners for a new visa, with a fairly low application fee and a required physical. The visa can be extended for a maximum of five years. People who hold the visa are eligible to enlist in the military, and after completion of service with an honorable discharge would receive a permanent resident visa.

It would be a huge step forward and completely consistent with conservative principles. But they just have to go on acting like morons.

So, boiled down, this is my understanding of the concern about immigration:

Some filthy uneducated illegal immigrant who just came off the boat (climbed over the fence- pick your own euphemism) and doesn't speak the language is going to steal your job?

So how badly do you suck at your job, exactly?

2012-09-17 08:53:28 AM
If you do not like it I will fix it. If you want it I will get it for you. I will paint your world in brightly colored hues that will smell of strawberries and vanilla. Facelifts and do overs for everyone. An I-Pod in every pocket and candy corn for everyone. There! You want specifics? All the while I will be reducing taxes and reducing gubermint.

Meanwhile back at the cave
Only people who own more than 27,000 acres of land , own a business and have over a million in the bank will be allowed to vote.
Teachers who do not preach the gospel will be shot and not replaced.
Unions are disbanded. Legalize Bigamy and Polygamy. Increase offense budget 4X. Pardon and then canonize Bush and Cheney. Build new center of Gubermint in Utah. Invest all social security and health funds in pyramid schemes like Amway. etc.

FTA:
"This is part of the Republican's drive to spend more time talking about the specifics of his economic proposals"

Of course it is.

"In excerpts of his speech released by his campaign, Romney did not get into the specifics of how he would patch up a deep divide between Democrats and Republicans on the approach to repairing the U.S. immigration system."

Of course he didn't.

This guy is a f*cking JOKE. I can understand not wanting to vote for Obama. I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone can want to vote FOR Romney. The man has proven himself incapable of respecting American voters, understanding the nuance of foreign policy, and offers pretty much nothing different from the last time we had 8 years of a Republican president.

I think ist more about how illegal labor drives down the prices of wages, thus pricing native workers out and stuff. "Why should I pay a teamster union guy $25 an hour to do this job I can hire a few pedros to do for $4 an hour."

Which is interesting, because usually the Right doesn't care about the welfare of unions. So its either theyre suddenly having a change of heart on organized labor, or its xenophobic, racist behavior.

I was looking at the picture of George Romney on the horse again
And it hit me

George Romney looks like a cowboy in action but
the horses attention is to the guy in the front
I'm sure that guy is holding the horses bridle

It's like a kid playing on a wooden horse

Isn't there another picture somewhere of Mitt on a horse with someone holding the horse bridle?

Well, no specifics in English. If he gives the details in Spanish, his base will never know.

So, as I understand it, as part of a Republican drive to spend more time addressing the specifics of his economic plan, Romney addresses the issue of immigration by discussing a plan totally lacking in specifics.

After promising during his 2008 campaign to take on the immigration issue, Obama never followed through, leading to disappointment among various Hispanic groups.

I assume this is a quote from whatever press release. They should probably mark it as such since it's, y'know, demonstrably factually untrue.

As he seems to be fluent in only one language-French- that simply won't do.

I am looking forward to seeing what Romney has in mind.

Immigration reform should begin with a guest worker program that acknowledges the invaluable contribution "illegal" immigrants make to our economy.

Obama has not stepped up on this issue.
