Why are they really trying to get people to stop taking ibuprofen?

2012-09-17 05:58:55 AM
Were the results adjusted to show that ibuprofen and paracetamol were frequently taken for headaches after a night of clubbing and hearing ear-poundingly loud music?

Ambivalence: But not men? That article makes no sense.

FTFA: The same team carried out similar research two years ago and found that men were also at risk of hearing loss from taking the drugs.

I take ibuprofen regularly, but I had hearing damage many years before I started taking the pain killer though. So I wouldn't know if it's contributing to the slow decline of my hearing or not. I don't know how legit this study is, but like a lot of studies, it will probably be rebuffed a few years now. When another study will say how wonderful and safe these drugs are.

Well, at least it doesn't cause rectal bleeding like Ketoprofen did. Anyone remember Orudis? I *really* liked Orudis... it only took 17 mg of that shiat to get the same job done as Ibuprofen. But yeah, the bloody stool was a bit of a downer, so I had to let go of my stash :(

I was thinking it had more to do with headaches, since that's the reason most people take Advil (etc). Recurring headaches and increased risk of deafness, seems pretty obvious.

fisker: Why are they really trying to get people to stop taking ibuprofen?

You can take my ibuprofen from me when you pry it out of my cold, dead hand. That shiat becomes a fifth food group for me for about four days a month.
