Say what you will about Japan, but they call a spade a spade.

I read that in China the driving rules are treated more like suggestions. Yet, none of these cars have a plow on the front(for pedestrians on the cross walk) or spikes in the back(for other drivers.) I think some design changes are needed.

/Does anyone know if the Japanese say it is the Chinese who don't know how to drive and vice versa? //Everyone keeps saying asians don't know how to drive but do asians in turn blame it on each other?

I am not paranoid about safety or the random possibility of dieing.

But seeing those Chinese cars fold like accordians on crash tests scare the living shiat out of me.

I don't know about driving stereotypes, but my Chinese cousin who lives in Beijing did tell me that Korean women have small eyes.

//and they're all terrible drivers there, probably because up until 20 years ago or so almost nobody owned a car.

Years ago I got dragged into HR for using that expression because some dipstick thought it was racist and HR didn't know any better.

About a year ago I suggested we have a department picnic and I was informed that the word picnic is racist. WTF? Amazing Snopes article on how that came about. Make sure you see what happened at SUNY over the word. Farkin gullible people in this World.

Has anyone noticed that, by and large, Chinese "automakers" just rip off popular designs from everyone else and then make cheap copies of them? I mean, is it any wonder that these folks can't build a functional aircraft carrier or advanced fighter? Hell, I'm highly dubious about their claims of having a space program that has actually launched a guy into orbit and recovered him alive and in one piece.

Did the rules of Chinese-English romanization recently change? I thought the silent T in the famous beer was how Ching was pronunced. Unless I have the ch/sh/j sounds confused.

Tsingtao = Wade-Giles = old system
Qingdao = Pinyin = current system

Kind of like how the capital went from Peking to Beijing. The Chinese didn't change how they pronounced it, we just changed the way it's rendered in our alphabet.

Not really this...Peking derives from the Cantonese pronunciation. (Same with Nanking instead of Nanjing)
But either way, it will always be Burma to me.
