Maybe this will convince America that she's the no-talent, ethnically packaged version of Gaga. Because she truly has zero talent to do anything except look like a freak as far as I'm concerned.

On the contrary, I think it will be a train wreck of epic proportions.

People watch American Idol past the first few weeks?

/the ones who don't make the cut are the best

2012-09-16 01:20:14 PM
The producers don't get do they? The best part of Idol (besides seeing the horrible singers, now done away with) was that we had pretty much no idea who Simon and Randy were when the show started. They were nobodies to the general public. Now the Voice has 'stars' so they have to have 'stars'. The public would prefer someone being mean not the platitudes of Keith Urban featuring Nicki Minaj. (I presume that's her name since I've never seen it any other way.) The public has actually heard of these two and have pre-concieved notions of each. They won't care what they have to say because they already know it will be some canned 'you were very good' response.

2012-09-16 01:27:13 PM
I wonder if Ms. Minaj will have a fit when the producers tell her that the sponsored Coca-Cola cup needs to be shown next to her?

/I hope so, that would be a great way for them to stick it to Pepsi

2012-09-16 01:34:47 PM
Good. I hope no one watches. Survivor, American Idol both need to go away. They've been around for so long that they've gotten really farking stale. Let them die. Let's go back to the old style of show where you had writers and there was a cast.

LewDux: It;s amazing how many people don't care about AI any TV show, including the Super Bowl

There are 311 million people in the U.S., and even the most top rated TV shows only get 25 million people anymore... and even Top rated NFL playoff games get 40-45 million, and the Super Bowl, which is more or less just an excuse to have a huge party for people, is 105 million abouts, which is "only" a 1/3 of the population watching.

Way back in the day, when there were only 3 networks for most people.. "Top rated shows" meant that probably 40-50% of the public was watching those shows. Now adays, you are lucky if it is 10%. Which means, 90% don't give a crap.

Yeah the only reason why it hasn't caused riots is because you, me and maybe three others have seen it .

They had floated around Adam Lambert, and he could have made me watch. He doesn't have the star power of Nicki Minaj or Keith Urban, and I don't give a fark if you think he's a freakshow, but I was amazed at good critique when he was a mentor in Season 9 and he could've been the truth-teller in this panel of judges. Now everyone will be a goddamn special snowflake this season. Again.

Given... although, from a pure statistical standpoint, they get enough of a sample to be accurate within I believe 1-2%. Now, how good their sample is can be argued, but, their sample sizes, as small as they are, "technically" are large enough.

Although, with the number of programs on now a days, "microprgramming" in my mind gets short changed as is extremely inaccurate most likely (since, 98% of the programming itself on now gets less than 2% of the viewing audience).

IE, back when everyone basically only watched three channels.... ok, ABC's show got 38% of the viewers, CBS's got 34% and NBC's got 28%. Statistically you might be been off by a % or two on each one, but, you basically got them correct.

Now, those networks get only 3-20% each, and you have literally hundreds of networks out there fighting for eyeballs. So, if one cable show gets a 0.22 rating and another one gets a 0.28 rating (that is percentages UNDER 1% of the audience).... does that really mean anything? Did more people really watch the other show? Most likely you'll never really know, which is what I think you are alluding to. And companies still make judgements and pay more or less for adverting even based on those "microratings".

FTA: "At the same TCA session where Carey's judgeship was announced, Reilly said he expected long-time judge Jackson to come back to the show in some capacity. Last week, the network closed a deal with Jackson to return to Idol as a judge after negotiations with Enrique Iglesias to join the show broke off."
